Yup... 3 miles seems to feel like a 200 mile cycle (which I've never done)

total opposite for me, running is just effortless and 15 miles at a slow pace is just so enjoyable. On bike the first few miles see OK but then the legs slowly start feeling weird or simply don't generate power, back start hurting etc.By mile 20 i usual start feeling sick.

I spent the weekend getting my ass kicked by girls, too!
Pedalled about 250 miles and didnt sleep from Friday to Sunday being bottle carrier/domestique (and support van driver) for these awesome girls:

That's awesome. I read about that earlier and shared it with some of the cycling guys here in work (we were discussing doing it soonish). Really impressive feat. I don't think anyone has any appetite for trying to complete it in quite so quick a time though :p Actually, we were aiming for a similar (hopefully quicker but realistically, not sure) time for our 300 mile unsupported ride in June.

Pretty confused... After getting the RideLondon 46 acceptance email I've since received emails from British Heart Foundation and Shelter asking me if I'd like to ride for them as I didn't get a place :/

My holiday hire bike for the day, would have been rude not to hire Di2 for £30 for the day. Broke all the rules as I had no cycling kit with me so I has cargo shorts and a t-shirt. Still had a great day in Majorca going up into the the hills to Lluc from Port de Pollenca, pretty steep going for me as I live in York and we don't really have any hills!

Strange, maybe worth following up to then ride the 100? I'm guessing they're all given a list of riders who 'missed out' on places regardless if they're doing the 46 or not?

Went out with my mate last night for a quick 'Tin hill' loop. Really enjoying this climb as I find it very easy to pace so can 'play' with different techniques, this time I went for a long steady standing effort (my legs still feeling toasted from saturday). As we did ok time wise we stopped off on route so I could show him Bredwardine Hill, climbed the first part of it and both bailed before it got really steep. Had a good laugh about how we could possibly get up it after we struggled to even walk down it after stopping!:p

I've grand plans of getting up the thing... One day I want to even do repeats of it, but only if I can find a loop from the top (Dorstone Hill) which doesn't involve 20%+ descents (Bredwardine, cooking brakes) or with T junctions at the bottom of 15% (like the 2 side of 'Dorstone Hill')... I figure if I can climb well enough up half a mile with 20-30% parts (and then still recover on the following mile of 5-10%) then I should be building some pretty good power for anything in the UK? :)

Edit: Going to Orlando on saturday for a week (will stop banging on about it soon don't worry! :p). No riding planned (and pretty sure I don't want to ride in 30 degree with 80%+ humidity with gators swimming around!) but I thought last night I could look around bike shops for a replacement Fizik Arione. Did a quick google and came across a Pearl Izumi 'factory store' which will be within easy reach. No real experience of their kit and not even sure what they stock, or even much idea about how much cheaper buying kit over in the states might be?! Had planned to do some shopping for normal clothes anyway, but maybe I should also grab some shorts/jerseys etc too?! Anything else that's loads cheaper state-side I should lookout for? Cue Haydn comes back with a powermeter... ;)

Got a build from scratch coming up, based on the Cinelli Gazetta frame!
Re-using parts from my kona, wheels and handlebars and stem just too see if I need a longer stem.

That the dougie mac ride? Friend of a friend of a friend was doing that.

Good effort chap!!

Yep, that's the one. Done it for 5 years now. Wow. I've been cycling for 5 years. Jesus! Time flies.

Its local, inexpensive, supports a charity, well organised, you see many people you know/recognise.

Some people did a bit extra and went up Horseshoe Pass after getting to Llangollen.

^^ sorted! They look sweet!

They'll be about as fair weather as the shimanos I have now, other than these being white and easily dirty. My current ones look like special shoes for SCHPECIAL people.

Nice shoes. But why white ;) You'll regret that one! Haha.

Are those Rapha climbing shoes Kimi?! Look nice.

Cif brings old white shoes up really well

Yea thats the climbing shoes, i got them last year in the sale, had first ride at the weekend, pretty comfy, so stiff! the vents must work well because i couldnt feel my toes after 13 miles:D need toe covers at 10c

Pearl Izumi is good stuff. I really like the jersey and bibs I bought from SportPursuit and the womens gloves I bought in San Francisco (though I ruined them in a crash and bought a replacement soft shell mens pair).

US has a lot of location based small sports chains so likely something Florida side. Castelli seems to be a bit cheaper $55+ or so for a jersey (add 7-10% sales tax depending on your location). I bought a Cannondale jersey last time too but I wouldn't recommend... Seemed cheaply made and not a great fit. Majority of stuff is on par with us though... Wiggle/CRC etc get a fair amount of US orders I think. Of course power meters particularly stages are a fair bit cheaper :)

Mavic seem to be the only brand I tried of many that fit me. I like the MTB shoes I've got... Just waiting for a good deal on road mavics and I'll make the switch to Look or SPD-SL.

Good info, thanks! Will take a look and make a choice when there I think (rather than go expecting to find things)! ;)

May try out a pair of their shorts.
