2 pairs of shoes? Defo something I'm considering in the winter months with my 4 commutes a day...

I have two pairs. I can dry things at work ok in the aforementioned tumble cupboard, but at home it's a case of stuffing them with paper and leaning them up against the radiators, which is fine when the radiators are on, but obviously no good in the summer! On days when I've gotten up to find my shoes still wet from the night before I've been very glad of having a second pair!

Extra pair of shoes are a necessity if you commute.

To be honest what I'll probably do in the 'winter' is wear my boots for the morning/evening commutes (in the dark so more likely to be wet/cold) and then have shoes at work to wear (possibly with overshoes) at lunch. That way they'll have ~23 hours to dry and my boots won't be as wet anyway... With my second pairs of shoes at home for 'emergencies'!

I'm considering 3! ;)

(I technically have 3 already, 1 set of boots and 2 shoes. Just need to buy another set of cleats&pedals!)

You overthink things. I just have take spare things if it looks like it could rain.

Ok, so my bike is clean and lubricated, and I've got my best bibs and jersey ready. At least I'll look awesome while Frenchtart is destroying me on the climbs tomorrow...

I just might take you up on that offer! But im unfit.

No, havent seen or heard of the cycle shuttle. I'll have a google. I agree with you about Sa Calobra. I havent seen it yet but if it looks as good as the photos I wouldnt want to have a coach behind or infront of me, clear roads are a must!

Well you've got 5-6 weeks to get in shape then ;) :p Not going to blast my way round by any means but not going to snail it unnecessarily. Normally regroup at the top of climbs when on club rides :)

It's 25EUR and collects from hotels on a weekly schedule usually AM. Has a proper bicycle trailer to protect the steeds. Drives across the island to the other towns/points of interest and then you ride back to where you're staying :)

Day 2's ride is planned, passes the top of Sa Calobra as I say but deserves it's own ride tbh. Besides tagging it on would muller volume for the week and I want to do it on a nice day, early to avoid congestion.

If any rides are longer that week they're most certainly be flatter!

Any time after 10-11AM, so I read, suggests the coaches & cars start descending which need most/all of the road on quite a few of the bends.

So if you want a clear run it's best to go early or late.

Surprising considering how dead it is in Feb/March. Clear run will see you challenging my descent time then!

Spent a bit of time sorting my bike too. I'll be playing it safe with my jersey and bringing my Gabba so I'll be baking on the climbs and taking it slowly :p

Not to mention that my legs are pretty dead. Running, man...why do people even do that?

That doesn't look like too bad a buy. There are probably better deals (which I'm sure someone will pipe up with) but Spyres are decent for mech disc brakes (worse than hydraulics of course). Sora on a £500+ bike is a bit blah however. Shame it's not Tiagra at least.

Thanks FT.

Ordered, I can't seem to find anything better for that sort of money.

Now comes the dreaded Halfords set up - £50 says I find something that hasn't been done/checked/adjusted. :(

I was at the local nature reserve the other day (with my kids on their properly set up and expertly maintained bikes) and saw a kids bike with the fork on backwards. The steering must have been dire.

The weather is looking good, but I'll be bringing arm warmers and a raincape/gilet of some variety... Can't be too careful.

Checked about 3 forecasts tonight before heading out for a ride.. Zero chance of rain from all of them.. Got soaked. A lot of it was that really fine rain that gets you soaked without really realising it. Super humid though so at least I was warm!

Seemed to be a lot of idiots out on the roads too... maybe the school run has brought them back out. Cars pulled out on me 3 times :/

Only chance for a short ride this week so I got out despite it being dark. No problem as I was lit up like a christmas tree but I had two moronic passes. One where a guy in a Vectra decided to pass me on the approach to a blind bend. As the car came into view the other way he missed it by about a foot with a closing speed of about 100 mph (both cars doing about 50). Second one again on the approach to a bend a guy passes and again a car comes into view "**** me that is close"... then I spotted the trailer. Slammed the brakes on and the trailer cut across about 6 inches in front of my front wheel.

Maybe I should take up jogging round the common in the evenings instead :(

Enjoy the speed :) First thing I would check are the derailleur stops, the rear mech smacking into the spokes is a nasty thing

The Triban 540 from Decathalon with full 105 for £650 but has rim brakes.

Move out and take ownership of the lane before the bend so they cant overtake dangerously and then pull in afterwards

Maybe... :p I've not ridden it before but usually descend fairly quickly though would like a bike that's ride-able by the time I reach the bottom!

Maybe I'll do it twice on seperate days ;)
