I know you weigh as much as a packet of crisps, but what pressure are you running them at, and what girth are they?

I'm 5'9 at 81kg, packet of crisps weights a little less :D

25c@95psi and they've been great from my pov! I commute in all weather around london.

Overshoes are crap. Buy cheap neoprene ones. You'll be wet, but at least you'll be reasonably warm. That or bite the bullet and buy goretex boots.

I don't get cold, it's the wetness that bothers me because I can't dry my shoes by end of day which results in wet shoes on the way home and that is not pleasant

I bought one of the proper tools and it is better than a big screwdriver, but only marginally. A better option I found was new chainring bolts that take a hex each side - easier to get tighter & undo. When tightening the others (with the tool) I damaged the heads as to me they were still not tight enough.

Most of the bolts I found were steel and it's too soft to get anything over 15/20 nM without possibly cutting bigger slots. Alu bolts are stronger/harder but don't see many of them around outside of Shimano.
What have you got/tried?

Of the 3-4 pairs I've tried the DHB Neoprene were the best, they even do an 'Extreme' which I'm assuming would be even better/thicker. They're still all neoprene so will eventually soak up water to a degree. I think the ones I found good were only due to being thicker than the others (BBB's & PX). Looking at the Shimano ones they are neoprene but also have 'print' kinda rubbery designs over the top so I'm imagining (hopefully) that aids in water running off the surface (although I've not tried any yet).

Several guys I ride with use velotoze in the rain but they're an arse to get on/off and don't last very long before ripping as a result. I'm imagining similar to the castelli nano covers I have. I've used them twice in light rain and they worked, but due to the nature of them my feet got damn cold/clammy too!

I have seen the velotoze ones and I think they would work but they do look uber thin!

all the over-shoes I have are neoprene so I guess they're supposed to soak through but even the BBB extreme ones rated at 5/5 for waterproof.

towards my boss at the office ;)

I usually stuff them with toilet paper and the paper soaks up the water a little but if it's a heavy rain day I'm doomed.

I literally do point my fan towards my boss's boss :p

Working at a University and in the same building as the Computer Science academics - there are far worse things that my boss sees every day :p

Doesn't hanging your wet stuff with other peoples' wet stuff get all their funk onto your clothes?

Next question:
Last night I went out after it'd been raining for most of the day - not sure what the air temp was, but it was quite cool, but not cold. Just went out in a ss jersey and bib shorts as normal, but when I got home my skin was really cold to the touch, clammy and cold - but I wasn't cold at all on the ride. Is there anything I should be wearing as a base layer in these conditions as we go into Autumn? I don't want to catch croup or whatever chickens get (pike)... but don't want to roast myself, either.

I wonder about trying veloteze as that looks like it might seal off your ankle better than overshoes or winter boots.

I have these, they do work but are a PITA to put on & off and you'll only get several uses out of them at best. But they are cheap, so disposable.

Ran 23's on 100R/90F for about 2,000 miles with no punctures. Great dry grip and still inspiring in the wet for a 'summer' tyre. Still got them too with life left in them :)

Meet in Alderley Edge, Wizard, Brickworks, some other cat 3 I forget the name of, Goyt valley, back over the Cat and Fiddle, back to the Wizard from the other direction in time to see the pros coming over it, then head back to Tatton for the finish, route dependant on time and tiredness!

Sounds a very good ride. Good luck tomorrow.

Few photos from my ride this morning in Mallorca. The route to the lighthouse is cycle heaven. Roads are so smooth.

Thomas.PLease,
A rider passed me this morning that looked exactly like you. I was shouting TOM! TOM! TOM! a al Alan Partridge. He turned around and just said, 'na, y'all right'.

hahaha.

Anyone know of any good innersoles? My mavic road shoes don't seem to fit in a way I like, hurts my heel as it feels the heel and bridge isn't supported well enough.http://biketestreviews.com/the-best-cycling-specific-insole-part-ii/
Specialized BG Blue's here. Tried some Sidi one and returned them (not enough support). Tried a BG Green and hurt my arches so much I went to my LBS for a fit (Specialized dealers with BG & Retul fits). They fitted me with Blues, even sold me extra pairs cheaper than I could find them online. Also an additional plastic 'shim' in the front of the left shoe (which I only have in 1 pair) I'm not convinced does very much.;)

Think Tredz did have them @ £19.99 (same as what I paid) but the blues were always out of stock.
