Road Cycling

yeah, i thought u have some old beaten up frame.
that looks good.
wheels done, now di2 and your good to smash it all

Nope! It's only 3 years old this year. It's why justifying a new bike is hard because my partner knows this bike isn't that old!

Though I do still want a newer bike for an integrated front end. What can I say, I am a tart :D It was also not the bike I wanted. I wanted it in blue but it was during covid and the blue one was due to be out of stock for a number of months so when this came in stock I jumped on it. Lastly, I think it's ever too big for me and the joy of the one piece cockpit means it's hard to change. Next bike I'll get measured up for and get the parts specific to my measurements

By the time I eventually am able to get the N+1 Ultegra may be cheap enough to justify getting it put on this one at the same time

This is going to be the jazzy little number I should have by September hopefully.

Will have to get a new front end for it though which will cost a few pennies. Going down the dark path of looking into integrated bars/stem since I had my bike fit.

That is really nice. You'd have to keep it clean but when it looks that good, you'd want to do that!

Popped into the specialized store on the weekend to grab some sealant and the s-works frameset I like looks so good in person. Though my partner wasn't as enthusiastic about it as I was

*You barely even use your current bike! That could be a nice ring on my finger!*

To be fair she's really supportive of my cycling because she is happier I do this than the alternative.

I expect I'll ask the question before I buy the new bike as it's out 7th year together his month so I think I'll ask it towards the end of the year
To be fair, an expensive wedding ring doesn't make you more married. An expensive bike does make you faster...
Off to Argos for an Elizabeth Duke engagement ring :p

Fortunately we're both quite boring and she hates the idea of a big diamond ring so it'll be a cheap event for me

not a boring option at all and I'm happy to look, just not sure where to these days :p.
There aren't a great deal of new rim-brake wheelsets being released. Are you looking at carbon wheels or aluminium?

Campagnolo Boro WTO 45's are probably the peak rim brake wheel. They might be over your budget, but before Wiggle went bust, they sold them for circa £1200.
I've got a set of Fulcrum Racing Zero's which are aluminium. They're pretty bombproof and the braking is excellent, but they are only 30mm deep. I've also had Fulcrum 3s and 5s which are decent for the price.
My mate has given me a pair of Hunt 50 Carbon which I have been using over the past few months. The carbon brake track is much better than my old Giant SLR rims, but the hub is noisy and there is some flex when I am standing up on the steep stuff. He got them for about £650 which is reasonable, but I wouldn't pay much more.
Some Chinese manufacturers are still making top-quality rim wheelsets. You may want to research some of these.
Alternatively, you could probably get a good quality handmade set built up for your budget. I believe there are plenty of UK options.
