Road Cycling

The frame saga continues...

I cut the ISP to the right height on the new frame and now the topper doesn't fit very well. It was a decent fit before I made the cut and now its sloppy. The cut I made was excellent and after sanding is perfectly flat. Flatter than the top of the uncut ISP. The issue also isn't with it rocking which might have suggest a wonky cut.

You would think this would be one of the few areas on the bike they would take masses of care with because its the single most likely point of failure and warranty. Going to call up the dealer today and see what they say. If they say just tighten it and ride it I will but I want it on record so that if/when it damages the ISP from movement I have proof I told them about it and it wasn't "user error".

I just want my fancy bike back!
any updates on TCR ?

No option to just use a Bluetooth speaker?
Although I'm in a garage so doesn't really matter about the noise/music I do prefer headphones... Bit more private! Also need a mic - leading TTT's and racing Ladder races need to be able to communicate.

@Roady mainly cost, availability and cx. Cx bikes don't come with 1x di2, so I'd have had to buy something then swapped out the components. Sram axs is generally pretty good I've found with my boardman, and like before when I had everything 11s di2 I only need to buy one type of chain and cassette to have as spares and all my wheels and cassettes are now completely cross compatible.
Fair enough, pretty much why I've gone Di2 - moving from mechanical 11s means easy swapping of components (cranks/cassettes/chains) but now I'm back to where I kinda started with 3 bikes on 11s, 2 of them being Di2 and a 4th being 12s Di2 which isn't back compatible! First world problems!

I'm thinking it probably will. I'll give mine ago on the trainer, maybe tomorrow, and report back. I know when I use these for watching TV and I go and wash a dish in the sink, I can't hear the Shokz over the noise of the tap/spray. I'm a little concerned these ones might be worse for cycling with wind noise, but we'll see.
Thanks for the feedback & 'review' - really what I was after. Think in/on ear for the volume side of things is going to be key for me (although my trainer isn't loud my drivechain isn't quiet).

I had the shokz titanium's and had an issue out of waranty and got a reduced price upgrade to the open run pros. The sound was a good improvement agaisnt the titaniums. Indoors on the turbo the sound is ok its more than enough to take your mind off the pain on hard intervals thats until the fan is on max then the sound is a little faint but its still a help take your mind off it level.
Yeah thinking more like they won't be loud enough. A big part of my riding (leading TTT's) means I need clarity both side (hearing others & my calls to the team).

Another lovely days riding. Did 1000m of climbing over 58km as some vague prep for heading off to Mallorca next weekend. Excited now! Getting better and pacing myself on the longer climbs and not getting to the final climbs of the day with dead legs. Was much nicer than last weekend as well because it was 10 degrees when I started instead of 5 so I could actually breathe!

It was actually a glorious Saturday here, typical I had a funeral to go to so didn't get out. Got a bunch of house chores done and some preparation for a new garage roof going on... Typical it rained nearly all of sunday when I had time to ride, so my only option was Zwift.

Glorious day here again today to be sat at a desk... Rain scheduled to return 4-5pm for the commute - as expected! :)

I don't know how people do it who don't have a vaguely flexible schedule. The weather in the UK is so erratic 10 months of the year.

It's definitely harder now I work Mon to Fri, but tbf to our English weather, it's not often this year I've had to ride in the rain or ride indoors instead. Maybe two Saturday's I've Zwifted instead of outside. Sunday's is almost always outdoors, no matter the weather. I have got wet three or four times I guess.

I'm still very much in "trying to get my legs back" phase so short rides at lunch work okay. I'm sorta hoping I can get fit/fast enough to get 20k ish in an hour during lunch. That'd be perfect.

Does everyone have the relevant tools to put a disc on to 40nm, or do you just put it on 'tight' (I only have a small torque tool for the 4 and 5nm bits)
Yes but I didn't for a long time. 40nm is tight. Not yard on it tight but give it a bit of grunt. I think if you give it some beans its unlikely to come loose. Just check on it after you have ridden it for a bit to see if its come loose at all.

Does anyone own or have ridden a Cervelo Soloist?

I'm in the market for a new bike and it seems to fit the criteria of being a great all-around road bike that is easy to work on. I'd appreciate any real-world experiences/thoughts.

I'd like an SL8, but the price has gone up for the 2025 version and there are not many 54 frames left at the discounted price.

I'm coming from a 2017 TCR Advanced Pro (rim brake). It's been a great bike but I'm now craving, discs, di2 and wider tyres.

New wheels are on!

Oooh la la, tres fancy (that but in italian)

Very nice looking wheels.

I just can't get on board with the "speed sniffer on the SL8 and your saddle setback combined with the saddle is mad! :p

@Junglist You'll be glad to know 2 things

1 - I built a bike from parts
2 - I tried to convert my wheels to Tubeless and failed

By that logic, since you've completed step 2 you'll have no problem with step 1 :p

Just couldn't get the bead to sit in the rim all the way around, i then hoped it might sort itself out and stupidly cracked on, only for sealant to squeeze out everywhere when i tried to pump up. I regularly have similar issues with these tyres when changing a tube but then getting it up near 100psi pops it into place. Not a luxury i have with tubeless as the air just escapes under the tyre before i can get any pressure up.

Will have another bash sometime. I've seen suggestions of suspending the wheel so there's no pressure from the floor so might try that. For now i'm just going to clean up and get the tube back in to ride at lunch.
