Road Cycling

Legs are empty today<snip>I think this weekend I'll have a couple of days off.
Just had the biggest bowl of porridge as I'm off to the hills on the MTB at lunch.
Does not compute? Empty legs only on the road bike? #excuses ;)
todays commute through red light district, I stopped at 45/50 lights!
TMI! :p
Jumped on the turbo for a quick one myself this morning. Low IF (0.9) and only did 25 minutes worth...

Felt good though and my stitches/scar don't feel too weird so I reckon I can do a proper session tomorrow or Sat with luck.
Good news mate! You might find the stitches/scar tissue will tighten as it gets older and the underlying tissue heals, some gentle stretching and possibly moisturising to increase the flexibility of the skin will probably help long term!

The times I've had stitches I usually find the annoying itching comes after they're removed! ;)
My mileage has obviously tanked :/ I might hit 7k by the end of the year but it's been stuck at 6k for a month now.
Probably still double mine! ;)

I'm up to 3300 of my 3500 target already, so around 2 months 'ahead of schedule'! I could take 2 months off!? Nice to know my goal was achievable - the best kind of goal! Will increase it to 4000 for next year, expecting to beat it again, rather than pushing it too much out of reach! :D

FT Everest to finish the year? ;)

Lol, nice.

I still haven't bought junction boxes or cables. Pretty much have everything else, though still waiting on wheels arriving actually.

I've held off on the junction boxes as I'm not sure if I need the new BT one to configure the Di2 with my phone. Have you set yours up with the BT battery and does it work with just that?

As far as I'm aware for wireless stuff there is no such thing as a wireless junction box, but you would have the new style battery (BT110) with the additional DFly unit (either the old or the new inline one when it is released) I am still waiting on cables and shifters. But I'm not buying a battery charger as I can borrow one :D Debating which shifters to get though, 2 button older style or single button slimline.

http://e-tubeproject.shimano.com/ Has more details on the adjustability. It's just the new stuff is a lot more customisable with synchro etc.

Nah, I rode the lunch ride like crap. Had arranged it prior to today, otherwise might have sacked it off.

Looked a bit at the e tube stuff, there is an iPad app (annoying no iphone one though) and their windows only application is XP compatible. *wut*

Im going to email them and tell them they should sort their **** out.

What have you gone for frame/wheel wise? Similar/same as before?

e tube?

Wet commute incoming, bleh. At least I'm doing today & tomorrow semi-recovery for semi-fresh legs on Saturday for the Charity ride.

Another day, another turbo session.

Quickest / furthest I've been on that session.

Its depressing that in the last 3 weeks of turboing plus the odd cross trainer sessions that I've now doubled my distance for the year to.......90miles :( Barely cycled at all this year and with my crash in April it really knocked me from going back on. If i can put a good winter behind me hopefully next year will be a lot better :)

I've taken today as a total rest day and driven to work. Even after 2 'easy' days of only commuting my legs were feeling sluggish after the consecutive turbo sessions Monday & Tuesday. Also combined with today getting a mattress delivered and I'm fully expecting the 'phonecall 30 mins before' to be 'we're outside your house'

53 miles for the week, with my ~54 for tomorrow's charity ride, easily smashing my 80 mile per week current target (and making up for the shortfall last week)... :D
See my post earlier.
Ah, the Di2 app link side of things.

Good session mate, well done for the recent mileage, keep it up! You could realistically break 500 miles for the year, if you continued! What was last years total? :)

I have done the same. Legs were shagged anyway, it's raining and I'm going to post work drinks, so thought why not. Made me want to kill other road users though. Driving annoys me at rush hour.

I should still hit the 200km target for this week though, only need 27km, which I'll either do sunday out on a ride if the weather picks up, or some intervals tomorrow night.

DCR's Trainer guide/recommendations for 2016/17 released: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2016/10/annual-winter-2016-2017-bike-smart-trainer-recommendations.html

Basically the Tacx Vortex Smart I've been looking at is still one of the 4 'main' middleground Smart Trainers recommended. It is in fact the cheapest. The Elite Rampa for slightly more money is pretty new and not many real world reviews. The Cycleops Magnus isn't released yet and is now higher priced than the KICKR Snap the last of the 4. I'm basically choosing between the Vortex and the Snap, with a £90 price difference between them (£350 & £440).

If anyone spots a better deal than the Wiggle price on them (Premium discount) over the next few days please give me a holla.

I'm also borrowing a charger :p At least for now...

Cheers for the info. Regarding wireless stuff I really just meant in terms of updating my firmware. It looks like you still need the DFly unit even for that - which is a bit annoying.

Just had a quick look and I'm struggling to find the different shifter options you've mentioned. I've already bought my shifters so I guess it doesn't matter in some ways but... bleh :p

PX Bish Bash Bosh frame, 50mm carbon wheels with TA Novatec hubs, Di2 Ultegra with hydraulic disc brakes, blingy Fizik handlebars/stem/saddle (RIP Tioga Spyder :(), Rotor 3D cranks, Praxis Works cogs, P2M.

Not drastically different from before really, aside from the TA wheels and Di2. Re-used my cranks, PM and pedals from my old bike.

I have a spare. I bought one (oof, 80euro pain) when my battery went while I was away. That was painful. I do have many chargers though I think. Trust me your address, you can have one.
