Road Cycling

Rode in...comedy of fun. For some reason I hadn't tightened my handlebar <> stem bolts. I discovered this whilst stopping at a red light  Managed to limp in the rest of the way by holding the handlebars up with my left hand and braking with my right. Of course my Garmin decided to play up so I only got about a mile of the ride recorded anyhow.

So much needs sorting out on the new bike but at least it now seems to all be minor stuff around adjusting the fit and such.

FT, needs man satchel perma attached to bicycle because "commuter".
FT, cycles all the way to work with sketchy handlebars because no multi tool in must have man satchel.
Sacrificing that satchel space for tools and gizmo's in favour of his Next pants and Hugo Boss juice.

Lolz.

I was half way in by the time they loosened. I did consider stopping but to start with it wasn't that bad, just a slight shift if I stood up...then got gradually worse.

You won't like my frame mounted morph mountain pump either I'm guessing?

Well, that sucked. 1 degree as I left home, which meant it had been sub zero in the sticks overnight. I totally lost grip on a right hander and came off the bike. I hit the ground with a thud and slid on the ice and my bike dutifully followed me on its side. I picked myself up and assured the following drivers I was ok. 4 miles from work at this point. I walked a couple of miles then cycled the rest once I got back to roads that weren't horribly iced up.

My bike is fine, bar some minor cosmetic scrapes to the brake lever and pedal on the right side. My clothes are fine bar a small hole and scrape on my tights. One overshoe is torn, but they're not great overshoes anyway. My jacket is miraculously unharmed. My right hip is bruised and swollen. Ouch!

Hey ho. Will have to be more mindful of the forecasts in future. May get the bus home or a lift... Depends how the weather is looking by then.

you gotta be uber careful when it comes to below 0 temps! I usually stick to car tracks to avoid iced up bits! you got away with it this time tho

I just bought some of those Rivelo bib longs, for 70euro I thought they were worth a try.

Winnats? I just gave mine a run-out in 0c temps and they did just fine. I don't think they'll quite cut it at -4c -5c but then I'll be in the car at those sorts of temps anyway.

Ouch, that sucks Von! Glad it wasn't too bad.

Down South it seems to have warmed up over the past few days. I went out yesterday morning with Partial Windstopper jersey on and I boiled up where as Tuesday it was perfectly suited.

Ooof :(

I was on the lookout for trouble on the ride in this morning - definitely the roads looked greasy if not icy in places but the leaves - omg soggy leaves everywhere!

Don't use Strava Premium :D
Pffft! I'm sure last year I used the 'free' month of Strava Premium which also gave me 2 months 'free' Zwift access... I didn't cancel Strava Premium afterwards and left the Zwift sub until March before I stopped it so can't confirm that Zwift 'free' would continue without Strava Premium.
Mate has lent me his Vortex, so I can get back riding tomorrow night, which will be nice.
Sweet! Any update on your new one?

Benny hill riding lol, no multitool?!:confused:
Has anyone seen these yet?

I like the ingenuity, but I think I'd be well aware I look more daft than I already do :p

Is it actually in production yet? Thought it was a kickstarter but don't see that mentioned now?

The Coros always looked interesting and reviews well, had semi hoped they would do a V2 with some of the Lumos features...!

Ouch! Glad you're ok mate and only cosmetic damage. Both of my sets of shift levers now feature some heavy scuffing after my Diverges speed/grip related off 6 weeks ago and the ice related off I had on my Defy outside work earlier in the year. Weirdly I put some of my roubaix tights on earlier and they where the set which feature a hip hole from that off (first time I've worn them this winter) and I did see some ice on parts of the cycle path on the way in this morning (first time spotting ice on tarmac this winter). Thankfully the combination was only visual for me, today!

Rest the hip, not sure how mobile you are at work but I found myself ceasing up throughout the day if I didn't move much. Movement was ok, just the dull ache/pain from lack of it. Rest up this weekend!

@Roady, he's actually lent me his Tacx "Flow"... only goes to 6% and 800W so I'll have to hold back (lol :D ) but it'll get me back training in the evening. Going to push a long ride this Sunday as the last "long one" before next weekend. Will ride Mon/Tues/Weds and rest Thurs/ Friday and then big day Saturday.

Tacx have sent me a new brake unit for mine, but no idea when it'll arrive. Hopefully beginning of next week, then I'll use that and the Mrs can try and keep me company on the Flow. The Flux is due to get here the week after. Ridiculous deal on that... 606EUR and they're now back on the same site for 797! Something went wrong there but I am taking it.

I've sorted my Endura order too. Should be here in the week ready for the ride.
