(speccing this myself) Had seen this about getting some reflective 3m black tape to go on bike, but on jackets still think a reflexlite amber sash is more reflective than jackets, a plasticized material with prismatic/mirror type function that they simply cannot add to clothing.

also white reflexite tape is the most reflective (suspect that is on police jackets)

Well. An eventful ride today and by no means in any good ways at all. First of all, it appears that there is a popular dogging/cottaging hotspot near Edgerton...a quick google pointed me to this article http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/11385003.display/

As we cycled by there were numerous cars pulled up with men sat waiting, a camper van who just pulled up and curtains were swiftly closed and a Tesco delivery van, with the driver with his back to the driver side window...obviously...getting something seen to. Pretty outrageous and so unbelievably blatant. And no, I am NOT joking.

The second bad thing was bike related with my friends front derailleur sheering off forcing us to break the chain and deal with the cable whilst getting covered in black grime.

Not a ride I want to repeat. :/

Ross, it looks very boil in the bag? I'm after a gilet and reflective as my main requirements anyway. Packable jacket is sorted (just black again!). Don't mind a boil in the bag gilet as easily more breathable... Due to the lack of arms! ;)

I do suffer with roasting hot wrists so I only tend to wear one layer under my gloves (generally only have short sleeve/vest style base layers and a selection of arm warmers for gilet use). It's weird, rest of me can be cold, feet and hands like blocks of ice, yet my wrists will be really clammy & overheating...!
AEROroad with disc brakes. lol.
According to Canyon (other manufacturers also report similar) the loss is 0.8 watts at 45 Kph using disc over rim brakes.
The Cervelo S3 disc is actually more aero than the standard S3... Considering Cervelo are one seen as one of the pioneers of aero bikes then that says something.

https://www.cervelo.com/en/road/s-series/s3-disc

Even more so when it's more aero, lighter, stiffer and '2 watts' faster compared to the S3 standard. I know the S3 is quite long in the tooth now, it's still considered the pinnacle/golden standard of an aero road bike that many others are judged against/aimed towards.

I've got some (in black) on parts of my commuting helmet (and it came with white strips already attached, as it's a white helmet).

DHB did a commuting jacket a couple of years back which had superb strips on it (I've got one in Black, great jacket for the rain but not very breathable), none of the designs since have had similar large areas on, not even the standard 'Flashlight'. The new Flashlight Force is the only one which comes close, the blue one is superb, just annoying the blue looks a different shade to anything else. Swap the blue panels for red, half the price and I'd have one! ;)
1) I don't race in UCI events
2) Disc brake trials are coming back to the Pro Peloton next year
Cue xdcx applying for commissaire position.;)

Was that on Stones Bank Road? The one that joins the A675 to the A666? At the far end just before the stupidly steep bit? The strava segment there is called Gay Alley or somesuch, so I figured it must get used for mischief from time to time, not that I've ever witnessed any.

Yup, Stones Bank Road, where it joins the A666.

I've been past there twice. The first time was just a load of parked cars, but today was just outrageous. The Tesco delivery man was just unbelievable. It was after the steep bit and before the junction that joins the main road.

Even if you go on Google Earth right now and look at the cars parked there, its all just single male occupants!

Haha, never seen that. Maybe it's a weekday thing. I've only been there at the weekend - and usually going the other way, down the horrible steep bit rather than up it - and I've never seen anyone.

My time up there is quicker than yours. Did you slow down to admire the view? Haha.

A record that may remain unbroken! :D

... Because you're taking the car next time?! :p ;)

There's a couple of places like that around the 'shire, thankfully they're never 'busy' and not really places you ride past in the evenings... You still occasionally see one or two parked up even at 10am some saturday mornings when riding with the club...!

Totally unrelated, how are you finding the Z170? I'm still toying with an idea of upgrading my 2nd gen i7 as I have some weird USB controller related issues. Other good P67/77 boards are like hens teeth so upgrading board+cpu is looking like a 'cheaper' alternative (why pay £150+ on a secondhand board several years old!). I'd love to go 2011-v2-3/octa-core but can't justify and no real need with my light usage & gaming (BF1/The Division/SW:BF).
