Road Cycling

Order placed for an Aeroad 8.0 Disc with Di2 - Delivery expected mid January.

Equivalent bikes from Specialized, Giant, Ridley and Cervelo are all at least £1.5k more expensive so this is still value for money.

Such an amazing looking bike. Pretty jealous :)

Hi can anyone recommend a good waterproof camera for cycling that can be mounted on my helmet or my handle bars?

Budget for such a device is around 150.

Needs to be able to record 1080p minimum with good battery and recording time.

I'm looking for some new shoes, cheap(ish) with stiff soles - any suggestions? Not really bothered about comfort, they're for crit racing /shorter rides

Bont A-Threes are good & cheap(ish) in the grand scheme of things!

Today was the pick for riding here, yesterday terrible fog morning and afternoon.

I got out, over Rivington, up to the M65, back to Chorley & home to Wigan. 50k in and 600m elevation, always felt like a bit of a headwind and no flat sections!

Going over Rivington is interesting, down the bottom lots of dog walkers, over the top motorbikes & hot hatches giving it some!

Got a squeeky chain, need some lube. Just been using Shimano but its in transit from Aus. What should I get in the meantime, I've heard dry lube even with the wetter weather (I won't go out in the rain but will ride in the damp/wet) as wet lube just holds the dirt!

has anyone actually paid for it ?

I'm paid up until May because for every minute I spend riding I spend 5 looking at data on my rides :p Not sure I'll renew though even though it is only a tenner for the year I'd rather have a couple of months of Strava premium.

I think OMS has a lube he swore by which is meant to be awesome but I get by with Finish Line Red. Clean, dry, lube, allow to cure/dry for a few hours, wipe down. Pretty standard stuff but does me well enough in Manchester weather.

Obviously when it rains I end up having to re-apply  Though sometimes I just spray on some gt85 and say screw it...

Quite like to sound of them but can't seem to find anywhere that sells them, have they been replaced with a different model?

Hmmm maybe they have been replaced with the blitz and riot. Might be able to find odd sizes somewhere if you're lucky.

I upgraded my A Threes to Vaypor S last year when they released the new Vaypors. Paid less than a hundred quid for them.

Got some sore legs now, three days back to back after 4 days off. Two one hour Zwift sessions and then 50k hard today. Not looking forward to the morning. Tried filling them with beer, didn't help.

Managed to find some A3 in size 44 for £50. I think my Shimano shoes are a 44 so fingers crossed they fit.

Amazing. Which colour? Red?

Looks like they've played with the aerocockpit some more, bit lower, more of an angle.

finally replaced my schwalbe one rear tyre.. it has done 2.3k miles in london, all weather commuting! was getting very flat in the center.

0 punctures in all that time! very good imo, front went sooner because of a huge sidewall cut :o but that had no puncture either.

over grip + puncture resistance + rolling speed = best tire for me.

My year is now over - 4753 miles in.

Loving these Veloviewer infographics. Only one ride over 22 miles but it was a good one

Well done & good riding! Agreed, great infrographics! Shows your Eddington number as 32, so you must've had more than one ride longer than 22 miles?!
Finally, Canyon has released the disc version of the Aeroad.
Beautiful! Looks so fast even stationary, like the Propel does!

Even more impressive is the length of those valves even on those mega deep rims!:rolleyes:
Rock n Roll Extreme is the stuff, lasts well and doesn't hang on to dirt.
Might have to get myself some as I've only been using wet lubes as the Finish Line Red & Muc-off Dry I didn't find very good, stopped using either due to having to reapply more than once a week to keep chain noise down.

Why not get a small quantity of what you've been using already until yours arrives? Or is the weather here much wetter than you're used to from an Oz 'winter'? ;)

Almost had another poor mileage week last week with only 3 days commuting (30 miles) and lots planned for saturday (so no group/club ride). I thankfully managed 79.5 miles (goal of 80) with the turbo!

I jumped on friday night before dinner (45 mins & 13 miles), a quick FTP interval on saturday morning (20 mins & 5 miles) but thankfully had time for a bigger session yesterday (1hr 40 & 31 miles). I've been mostly 'base' riding with these sessions to try and continue my overall fitness, but I've been choosing hilly route options to help my power levels and doing some sprint efforts... I also want to unlock the Tron bike! ;):D

^^^ Ross trying to justify another Canyon in his garage... ;) :p
AEROroad with disc brakes. lol.
Still faster than you. lol.

Anyone with some of the newer 'reflective' style jackets like to report back on fit? I know Ross has one (but not sure which).

I've been wearing a DHB Whisp gilet as a visibility kinda cover as the majority of my winter wear is black/dark. The rear fit has always been pretty bad and now it's getting quite flappy/baggy on me, I'm also very aware it doesn't have ANY reflective panels. I run good lights anyway (so directly front/rear I'm good) but I'm conscious of having some shoulder/side reflectives for dark commuting. I've grabbed one of these Hump Flare's to try out (ebay bargain - going to be quite nice to get some blue clothing back into my wardrobe!). But I quite like the FWE reflective jacket Evans' do, not sure if there's a matching Gilet.
