Road Cycling

I hope people stating their distances are not including zwift miles.

Miles are miles are they not? Whether they're accumulated on, road, rollers or turbo?

I used to feel a similar way about elevation gain credit on Strava from Zwift rides but ultimately it's just time spent at X watts.

It is utter nonsense. The man eats bricks for breakfast and his Z1 starts at 400w.
Tony Martin will be marketing plush gel saddles next.

Yep, this team... At it again.
Disc brakes and now this...

Ian Stannard needs to batter them again. 5 of them this time, for good measure. No wonder hard man Tony M buggered off to some sketchy Russian team after being lumbered with this mincey lot.

Nope, miles on turbo are subject to how accurate your turbo is, just loosen off the resistance, wahey another 100 miles on top, and then you don't battle the wind and rain and heat and whatever :D

Kind of irrelevant if people train to power like most do these days, then mileage is just a by product of the session. Loosening of the resistance would be useless for training to power.

Zwift miles definitely accumulate quicker than real life, but CBA to separate them out. If it makes people happier all the hours I spend on TrainerRoad count for zip in mileage terms. :p

For those that are just starting up with cycling this might be a useful deal... Spotted Garmin Edge 25 being sold for £59.99 in Aldi. Basic unit but being the 25 it still has ANT+ so if you want to add a cadence sensor or whatever then you can do at a later date.

Ahh was you refering to me switching rubbers?

I think i may still buy a proper road bike vs using the mtb with road tyres.

A road bike gives a very different riding experience. I'd liken it to my cars in a way. Both my Focus and MX5 will get me from A to B in about the same time but only the MX5 makes me want to drive it.

I guess a better comparison between MTB and road would be a Land Rover Defender and a sports car. Both excel in their natural environments but utterly suck when you swap the terrain. Swapping tyres helps but it doesn't disguise the fact they are the wrong tool for the job.

Just been sized for this bike (2016 model but I'm hoping to get the 2017).

It's got a lovely amount of flex at the back, perfect for long rides in the saddle.

Anyone here got one to let me know about longevity?

Also, single sided cleats. Are they the big thing now? :D
