Road Cycling

Presume you got some money back Shamrock I'd be quite annoyed if I'd booked a di2 and didn't get one

Funnily enough, I'll probably be losing money out of my deposit.:(

After the first ride the position felt a bit nodder so I thought I'd slam the stem. Turns out Cannondale have some weird headset I'm not familiar with!

I couldn't put it back together again without there being significant play in the headset. I tried for ages and then gave up and decided to ride with it wobbling. This ended up being a very bad idea and it damaged some of the paintwork on their shiny, brand new 2017 bike. :o

I took it back to the shop to get the Pros to fix the headset play and they spotted the damage so I came clean. The guy said it might cost 60 euro which I think is taking the **** a bit for some paint. I'll see what they say when I return it on Thursday.

Lol the headset is really simple? Should kick off about the fact you didn't get what you ordered. Reviews are much more damaging to them than some damaged paint work.

After my xmas rest I've got some calories to burn off lol! Looks icy out there this morning though.....hopefully our club ride will be an uneventful one!

Wishing Sussex was flat. Rolling hill after rolling hill then oh sudden monster hill. Get me back to flat London :D

Some really clueless drivers out today too. If you get your bonnet past me I don't suddenly disappear so don't cut in because there wasn't enough room to overtake in the first place :/

Did a good turbo session earlier, mostly just holding power levels and speed around flat loop. Base kinda work to burn off some of this Christmas excess! Finished it off with a long climb, happily holding 280W/300W at times. I mostly find the power OK, just uncomfortable gearing/cadence to hold it. Have been meaning to grab an 11-28 for turbo work, rather than the 11-32''s I have. Running 34/50 also sucks, need a deal on some 36/52 rings. Even climbing the pretzel I don't use lower than around 34*18.

Tell me about it! Weighed myself yesterday at 75.8kg and thought it couldn't be right... I was 74.5kg last week and had been for a couple of weeks, but 3-4 days off riding, obscene amounts of Turkey, cider and buffet food have mounted up. Weighed at 75.6kg this morning! :o

Weird it should be overly complicated!? Don't stress about it now mate, the damage is done and really nothing compared to what most hire bikes soon pick up - it''s only paint!

If they mention the deposit/€60 again check the hire/price difference between the DI2 and standard supersix, as it may offset it. The fact you ended up with a hydro wasn't your choice after all! ;)

Another 131km down today. That was cold riding tho. Had 5 layers on my top half... Was like the Michelin man.

80km to go. Easy peasy.

And I know most of the weight gain is probably just water and will soon shift. Going to easily hit 95 miles this week, 36 today on turbo and then going to ride into town and back with the other half morning and evening as she's working the next 3 days while i'm off. Easy 5 miles each way (so 20 a day). May even hit a crazy hill local to my parents on Friday as planning to go see them too.

Anyone after some Enve 3.4''s with tubs and Chris King hubs? Have a friend with a set he doesn't want/need and said i'd pass the word around. Not mentioning any prices but trust me if interested and i'll pass you his email address.

Been quiet in here about Christmas Presents.

I was happy getting a kitbag for racing, and a set of T handle Bondhus Hex and Torx keys. Will make working on the bike so much easier. Also got a 10dvd history of the tour, but it had 2 dvds of fiction about the years 1999-2005

I got a lame mug and a pizza cutter which someone had already bought me in the past.

Fortunately that's where it ended and everyone else realised that cycling isn't the be all and end all and I received other gifts!

I think moving back to the UK has seriously messed with Berger's head

I'm feeling fat and deflated.

Fortunately I have until the 9th of Jan to get some riding in so hopfully the weather is kind to me.

Got a couple of family days off now, then going to do a few hours on the 30th and maybe 31st.

If I was at the height of my fitness now would be the perfect time for us to meet up and ride so I could only be about 50% slower than you. Sadly I don't think that is the case :)

Let me know if you somehow end up taking 6-12 months off...

I got a Live to Ride mug, muc-off kit + a park tool chain cleaner (anyone would think I don't clean my bike..), and an evolution of cycling t-shirt that was 3 sizes too big for me :D

89 miles in the bag for Festive 500 today. 93km left to do. Potential 100 miler on Thursday but think I might try and polish that 93km off tomorrow... Planning a flat route is proving difficult without multiple repeated loops.

Haven't had a rest day for 12 days now. Usually get 2-3 days off a week!

I did quite well this year.

Really nice Angeles Creative SS jersey
Twin Six bib shorts
Rapha Canyon team top (which I had to return as it's stupidly short on the waist!)
Few pairs of funky socks

Was planning a 100 miler today, but it looks even colder than yesterday. Even though it wasn't really icy at all yesterday, I don't think it's the same today. Was planning on doing it on my new summer bike too as it's so dry.....might wait until tomorrow or maybe Friday.
