Road Cycling

I was about to finally sort out dedicated insurance on my bikes earlier.

Bikmo had the best quote, which was sweetened when I found a 10% off code online somewhere too.

Except......in the eligibility criteria it states you must not have made a claim >£5k in the last 5 years. D'oh!

I assume that might make it hard to get insurance with anyone....not just them.

Damn thieving lowlife scum!

Well I guess is if they find out I have made a claim of that amount (with a different company) then this policy would be void....and they would not pay out.

That would be my understanding.

You may find they'll cover you but possibly not at those premiums, probably best to give them a call and discuss, doubt they wouldn't have an option and certainly better than setting up a policy without mentioning the claim (that's a legal no-no as you're providing false information!). Might only cost you a few quid more!

Put my head scarf and cap on this morning and shot out the door on my bike. Cycled all the way to work, went to take my helmet off....oh..!! Completely forgot to wear my helmet. Felt naked and unsafe cycling home and felt like I was getting scowls from other cyclists! D'oh!

I've occasionally made it down the road with no helmet, but so far I've always noticed and gone back for it.

In other news, one of my colleagues is doing Slimming World, so we decided to count how many "syns" I get through in a day in cakes, biscuits, etc. We got to 60odd. Apparently most adults should have 15 at most. #winning

It's 'sins' :p and demonising certain items in this way is loathsome. You shouldn't be made to feel guilty or that you can't or shouldn't have certain foods, in moderation of course. /rant

Anyone tempted to have a go on the summer bike as the weather is good and dry?

Maybe a bit icy soon though
The weather has been rubbish where I am - Redditch.
A fine mist/rain in the air for the last week so everywhere is soaking wet, muddy and gritty.

My bike is getting trashed :/

Apparently it's "syns" in slimming world... weird. But yeah, it's all moderation and balance. All the junk I eat is balanced by all my cycling :p

Have now integrated the habit of always tapping my head with hand as I set off in morning to check I do not forget the helmet - serial recidivist

Arrrghhhh!

Is anyone else having real issue with things connecting to their Garmin unit lately?

Even before I got the power meter I was having trouble with my HRM, for no reason it would either not vonnect, or connect and give naff data for the first 15 mins or so.

This morning my power meter connected, but the second I got to the screen to calibrate it, it disappeared. Remained disconnected for the whole ride.
The pod still has a single flashing green light to say it's operating properly, but nothing on the head unit.

Any thoughts on how you can force re-connect things? I did switch the headunit off then on again but no luck......

And I rounded a bolt holding my mudguards on yesterday evening too, not having the best luck at the moment!

I hardly ever wash the bike but it stays clean for 2 months.

You're obviously not riding hard enough if you're not sweating all over it :p

Ahh, wasn't aware they've taken it upon themselves to change how words are spelt as well as how units of energy are measured :D

i do this a couple of times at the start of skull cap season, because i put the cap on when i'm getting dressed and the helmet when i'm leaving, i miss the helmet because i can already feel something on my head.

Two Bianchis in the bike racks at work this morning. One with campagnolo... nice. The other with Celeste bar taped clip on tri bars and a top tube gel pack... not cool, bro.
