Road Cycling

The delivery issues of old (late 2015-mid 2016) were explained away with the implementation of a new factory and IT system. Canyon have since been promoting that these issues have been resolved and everything is back to normal. Which seemed reasonable…….on the surface.
  • My order was confirmed early January with delivery by mid Feb.
  • This was delayed because of an outside supplier issue: "Lack of availability of Shimano’s disc Di2 system". (even though Specialized and BMC both could have supplied me with a bike within 3 days with the Di2 Disc groupset).
  • New delivery week of 7th March and so far no communications from Canyon.
Looking around the web people do get bikes delivered quickly (in stock) but its pot luck if you do or don’t with bikes that are required to be built.

It will be worth the wait, the saving is about £1.5k over equivalent spec bikes from Spesh, Cervelo and BMC.

In response to your post, i'm surprised, as it looked like they had sorted their problems but the customer experience has been very poor.

The only thing that has changed with Canyon is the plethora of excuses gets wider and more varied as time goes on. I totally get that the bikes are a) quality and b) incredible value and c) good for residuals - but honestly I think if it was me (It'll likely never be me because I can't see me spending any more than £1200 tops on a bike) then I'd be tempted to down-spec and pick up something from someone that I can wheel back into the LBS if I had any bother. In fact I think my next bike will probably be a Trek because my LBS has just won Trek dealer status, but that's beside the point.

I just hope you don't have any bother with it because their CS is going to drive you absolutely mental - can you imagine waiting 3 weeks for a broken part to get shipped? Downtime on a bicycle is just completely ridiculous but you can totally see it with Canyon.

Pointed this out last year :o Rarely use gels so no love lost :)
Lol :o

I'm sure I've said the same before about them! Although I might have been getting my wires crossed or maybe an earlier time they did it delivery was expensive! Or I've got dementia. Shaddup :p
Canyon and non-delivery of bike; the rage is building now
You need to be building patience, not rage! ;)

Such a shame that ordering from them is such a test of savings vs waiting time. If I really get into MTB'ing then I will probably be going Canyon... :o

Budget will be my main concern, want a full-sus without spending £1500+... Hadn't looked at YT, well regarded/specced/priced?

Interestingly I ordered at the end of February with the website showing no stock until May but received confirmations of mid/late March (WC 20th) delivery. Guess I'll see...

They're not always terrible with deliveries, I ordered a Canyon towards the end of February this year and received it exactly 7 days later. Does seem to be pot luck. Hopefully yours will arrive early!

Seems to be a bit hit and miss.

I did have to correct them, in that the Tri seatpost adapter fits both the Speedmax CF SL & CF SLX, I was being told it only worked with the latter but questioned why the former also had mounts on the seat tube :o Have found their CS to be quite good so far but to tempt fate...

Wore Sportful Fiandre Light long sleeve jersey for the first time yesterday morning. Very impressed. It was light rain all the way to work and any rain just beaded on top of the jersey and simply bounced off with a top of the jersey. Found it very breathable too and no sweatbox effect at all. Wore a basic running top underneath and it was perfect for yesterday's weather.

So this morning due to mechanical issues with my road bike I dragged myself around 27 miles on a 13kg hybrid bike. Surprisingly it was quicker than I was expecting given the bolt upright position, 32mm wide tyres, wide & flat bar, MTB trigger 9 speed gears and no PM & cadence sensors.

You did better than me on my road bike - im full of germs and should have stayed in the house. Rubbish ride, didnt enjoy any of it and managed to tweak a muscle around r/h side of my hip. Great :(

Riding with an illness is never fun.

I found the 32mm tyres totally awesome for comfort - like riding on a fluffy cloud :)

I didn't feel too bad this morning - sore throat and a touch groggy so i had 2 ibuprofen and some cereal and shot out. Felt really rough after 2 or 3 miles and then the wave of regret came washing over me :p

Do you not have a MTB? 20psi tubeless on a mtb is the stuff dreams are made of - buttery smooth.

My first bits have arrived for my next bike build. Big delivery from ribble - sram apex groupset (11-32 cassette and medium cage mech - come at me bro) and some bits of finishing kit. Now I just need some wheels. And a frame. And various accessories. I'll get back to you in august.

First time out in over a year. Got the bike serviced in the week. Great job but the idiot's replaced my chain rings with dinner plates.

Took an extended route home from work a while ago, kind of feel I should be making the most of this afternoon because tomorrow looks wet until ~1600, but I didn't have much energy after a decent ride in this morning and I was going at a fair pace at work to get done for ~1300. Debating maybe going out again a little later, perhaps on the Felt given the good weather, we shall see!
