Road Cycling

Von, I'd have thought seat tube angle was the most important, as mentioned you can combat the long top tube with a shorter stem, shorter seat tube with longer seat post and head tube with spacers (or raised stem/bars)...

Just the seat tube angle you can't do a huge amount with (fore-aft saddle is the only way and much less scope than the others).

Anyone following my Exposure quandry, I've ordered the Race mk11 from Wiggle (3% topcashback) and got them to pricematch £146 from Rutlandcycling (£20 saved!). Going to grab myself the mk2 trigger button directly from Exposure as I'm not going to run the Race on 'Reflex Mode' (which changes brightness due to speed/g-forces). Wiggle pricematch makes it almost free! ;)

And you can combat seat tube angle with an offset seat post :p

I am selling all my Fizik R1 finishing kit and moving to Deda Superleggera. Got the RS seatpost in the post for a good price as the Cyrano post is 25mm setback and the Deda is 12mm as I want to be more over the BB as I am much more efficient there. Plus the post is only 176g!!
Superleggera bars and stem are a decent weight saving over the Fizik R1 kit. Binning my -17degree R1 stem for -7 degree to change about a bit.

Indian Pacific Wheel Race.

Crazy.
Mike Hall is going over to complete, Yorkshireman who now lives around where I grew up in Mid-Wales (first picture in the article is on the Aberystwyth mountain road). He's got a beautiful Kinesis Racelight Ti - but ruined by some damn ugly Reynolds rims! ;)

Non drive side crank arm came off earlier while riding. Lost the end cap/dust cap any ideas what they're called? Cant find them on google on the tool for them

I'd just call it a dust cap. J E James is always where I end up when looking for little odds and sods like that.

Without wanting to be the voice of doom and gloom if it has worked itself to the point of coming off while riding don't expect it to be an incredibly good fit ever again.

I'd imagine it was probably my fault for not checking the crank arm bolts. Can't recall when I last checked them, I checked headset, seat post and few others last week but not the crank arms.

SJS are another good one for random nick nacks.

What's the life expectancy of a Bottom Bracket out of interest? Assuming this (above) is it on it's last legs it's done around 4,000 (mostly dry) miles which seems a bit on the low side. (BB86 PressFit).

Any excuse to buy new tooling :o :D

Helmet Recommendations?

My Louis Garneau retention system is playing up and the helmet is 2 years old anyway, fancying something new.
Can grab a Kask Majito for £75 and seems to be a winner.

Will be used for commuting and weekend riding, anything else worth looking at?

Varies massively - I've had as low as 1k (was a very cheap Sora or lower end one ridden in rain, bike left out in rain, etc) but more normally I'd expect 5-6k, sometimes more.

GermanTort just took the Mojito from snazzy status to turd status.
I also have a Kask Mojito though so it has projected from turd to stardom. An up and down day for the Mojito.
Can confirm it is superb though. Buy one. It's worth every penny of £75.

Edit, this just in. This PoS forum stars out a word exactly the same as curd apart from the letter C.

BB86? Depends on how long you can endure the creaking before you throw the bike under a bus.

Thanks FT and xdcx, that's that sorted.

Now wondering whether to get some new shoes for commuting... I want SPD-SL but I do have to walk through New Street everyday.
