Road Cycling

Don't worry about it, do your own thing. If it takes 7 hours, it takes 7 hours, but that's 7 hours better spent than not doing it for fear of being slow.

Bought some Fizik R3 a couple weeks ago but had to send them back due to them being the wrong size, out of stock everywhere in my size so i ended up getting the following Sidi shoes instead.

The size was pretty much spot on but i still had some heel slip and some pinching from the tongue when done up. At this point i had become bored of ordering online and thought i would take a trip over to evans to try on some shoes.

Ended up going a very different route and ditched the Sidi after seeing these beauties in person. They fit like a glove and are so comfy, first ride tomorrow will be the decider though!

Indexing on the rear derailleur was becoming unreliable so took both mechs off and teflon lubricated the pivot points, working backwards/forwards and using Q tip to get as much dirt off in the vicinity, is there a better approach ?
[did not want to tear down complete spring in rear arm since have not done a campag before and with others have often found grease in good condition, did not debur edge of the front mech arm today either, which is another dilemma, removing some metal to improve shift and reduce wear ]

Remarked some play in the jockey wheels (not ball race variety) and wondered if there is a rule of thumb for replacing them (eg. after 'n' chains )and whether play could contribute to some lateral chain movement causing indexing issue or occasional roll up of chain on top of its cog ?

TheReaperGuy - how do you loose a cleat bolt - maybe add loctite ?

BennyC - need someone with a helmet cam

My mate dropped off my P3C after clearing it with the wife!

It's old but in good condition and can't have done too many km. Steerer is uncut too which is nice. I gave it a wipe over with acetone and its in good condition. I think it's a 2006 or 2007 model. Internal cables though!

I ordered some Shimano SPD SL 540s and a 3T Vola Pro base bar that were super cheap on CRC.

I'm in two minds about going for SRAM or Shimano.

Shimano is cheaper, 105 is great value.

I have SRAM on my other bike, so it would be all interchangeable if I went all SRAM.

Hard to find shifters and you have to get a Force crankset to get 53/39 which is $$$ Rival cranks are all compacts!

Couldn't you go SRAM for the most part but then get a Shimano (or whatever) crankset? They're interchangeable in the case of Shimano and SRAM aren't they?

Shamrock and I came across a white van driver earlier who seemed intent on killing us due to the fact we were using 'his' road. He was originally going in the opposite direction but turned around and chased after us, then went to turn back, then got annoyed again, chased us, then slammed on his brakes in the middle of the road, then chased us for a bit and eventually gave up. WTF is wrong with these people.

White van man is going to enjoy today's event then!

Morons TBH. It is like people that slam their brakes on while on the motorway, what goes through their head? "I know... I'll cause a massive accident. That'll teach them for causing me to ease off the loud pedal for 2 seconds."

I tend to just let it go over my head but on my last ride I had a guy in a Land Rover pass me with less than a foot to spare... on a straight road with no traffic coming the other way.

But. But full group set and all that!:o

Not really in a rush, if a second hand crankset comes up I'll be all over it.

Might leave that till last, get the rest first. Will spread it out over a few weeks, aiming for maybe $750 all up. I need everything apart from frame & wheels.

Saddle worries me the most.

My Garmin isn't talking to Strava either; only started happening the last 2 rides.

All the data is on Connect, but won't go onto Strava like it used to.

If I manually upload it skews the elevation and loses my HR data :(
