I think I've finally lost my patience with my Garmin 520.

I know a lot of people are big fans of the Wahoo offerings, however I believe Garmin are releasing some new models I am trying my best to wait and see!

Ah I thought there might be something more to come as a response to the Elemnt although I guess the revised 520 hasn't been out long.

Looks like an Elemnt then :D

Garmin just seems to be a pain in the ass for me, too. I can't really justify changing it at the moment, but I might sell the 520 and get the Elemnt in the future. I need new shoes first.

I lost a eyebolt and fixing for one of my rear stays of my SKS Chromoplastics this morning on the way in. Does anyone have any ingenious ideas to fix it without resorting to this https://www.tredz.co.uk/.SKS-8-Bolts-Nuts-End-Caps-Chromopls-Longboard_69465.htm?

A bit galling to pay £7 for one fixing.
I've just bought a set from which I only needed the actual rear guard to replace a broken one. I have a bag full of fittings. I'll send you some. Send me your address in trust and details of exactly which bit you need.

Amazing, what a hero. I'll send you a message.

Tour of Britain passing through on sunday, have made plans to ride out to 'British Camp' next to Malvern which is the first KOM on the route, think it's possibly the main/hardest climb they'll do early in the stage.
Rode out to British Camp, couple of brief showers and lots of wind but otherwise good weather. With the winds around a couple of us did big turns on the front but I found enough in the tank for an effort up British Camp. I was 14th of 65 on the day I'm pleased with, only the first time I've been up there so plenty of time to be made up! :D

We got there around 10.45ish a good hour before they where expected to come through. There where quite a few people around (it's a busy place for walkers anyway) and the cafe there was doing a roaring trade in bacon sandwiches & coffees! Suitably refuelled we milled around aimlessly chatting to others - we had figured to head further down the climb to catch them but as they were only just setting up the barriers we set ourselves up a few feet from the KOM with a curb to stand on right on the barrier. As time went on there was a rainshower or two, more and more people starting to flood the place. Around 11.40 (with the earliest estimated rider ETA being 11.44) the road was still open, there where tractors hauling potatoes and we'd started to cheer them (and any riders) coming through. Some old dear stalled her car on the KOM marker just as some of the lead outriders where coming through, the Police rider behind her was pretty irate and we where prepared to push her out of the way, thankfully she got it started and moved off! The riders didn't come through until 12:05, a little later than planned. As it was the KOM the field was pretty split, a number of QSF & Movistar at the front with most of Sky in the group. A couple of cars after them and then the second group of riders with a few stragglers amongst the cars including Cav (who got by far the biggest cheer) who was the last rider through.

We got ready to leave, around 15 minutes afterwards and nearly everyone had gone! They where packing the barriers away and I'd judge by 12:40 there would be nothing left. Impressive! The whole setup, race through and tear down taking less than 1.5 hours. The road only closed for 25-30 minutes as cars where allowed out less than 5 minutes after the race came though (and them running a few minutes later than planned). The race descended the route we'd climbed and we followed much of the route back towards Hereford, there was no sign at the various points I know people where spectating, as if nothing had happened! :o

Is anyone using a left only pwm? Given that I know my right leg produces more power would I be better off getting a full r/l pwm?
I bought my C1 because it was both legs with an estimated L/R balance. I had a fear I was horribly unbalanced but even estimated I'm fairly equal only slightly favouring my right leg. It might be worth doing a gym session or a wattbike ride to determine your actual balance rather than worry about it too much, or letting it determine your purchase decisions! Peace of mind too! :)

Witnessed the fitness this morning

Great pic of G!

I've a couple of photos (best are on my Strava rides) but I also have a 300mb video of them coming through. May upload it if someone has a recommendation other than YT (which will ruin the quality)... :(

Good riding, well done!

It's a learning process. You understand what you did wrong, that's knowledge that'll stand you well going forward. My first couple were pretty under-tensioned, resulting in them slowly starting to undo themselves over 500 miles or so
Haha yup, I have a feeling I've over tensioned them if anything so will see how it fares. I know I'm going to be changing the hub in future so not an issue really. Can get it better then! ;)

Ooh Ooh!

I need one for the front!! that is currently gaffer taped on! Can I jump in on this bandwagon?

Shocking news everyone...

Increasing your ride distance record from ~51 to ~85 miles in the space of a few weeks leads to heavy heavy legs, who would have thought?! ;)

The ride to Thrusting circuit and back, despite being on a first ever group ride, caught up with my badly last night and I fell asleep in front of the TV! Walking at work is rather sore today, going to be a gentle ride directly home later.

Lol@ Ryan Mullen's ride name. I've not watched the full coverage/highlights yet but sounds like the finishing straight/finish was a mess?!

You can upload to YT up on 4k no problems.
Will give a try later!

As I mentioned before, SKS will send you fittings, usually for free! :p

Haha yeah accumulated fatigue can hit you like a freight train sometimes! Just BAM out of nowhere your legs vanish!

I've been following Harry Tanfeld since just before the ToY (Bike Channel Canyon rider) and his ride from the final stage of the ToB has screenshots of his TP & Strava fitness & freshness charts. Great reading & numbers but 1600 TSS in a week is pretty mindblowing to mere mortals like us! :o

My 53 fatigue is slowing me down, can't even contemplate what 179 feels like!

I hate this time of year, days are getting shorter and temps are starting to drop off.:(

Looks like the 200 mile weeks are over and fitness will decline. I don't particularly enjoy cold weather riding due to my hands and toes suffering. Maybe I should get out the turbo a bit earlier this season!:o

Ditto. I find the presence of more wet & windy weather (proving dangerous) eases me back on to the turbo nicely. Maintaining a decent fitness over winter isn't particularly difficult :)

Results or excuses, you can't have both :p ;)

Post-holiday blues have set in, I was in Majorca last week! You really think riding a turbo compares to that?!

Thankfully I've booked another holiday to Gran Canaria in December but keeping my current level of fitness until then is particularly difficult I'd say.:p

My first thought upon seeing the red tarmac was that some riders were destined to fall, that stuff is so slippy!

I know of Harry Tanfield from races he's done up here and he seems to have came on from there again. Strong riding for the big man.

Know those feels, returning to UK roads & weather is demoralising :(

9 days in/around Calpe next April is my incentive this winter :p

Yeah, I'm surprised there wasn't more crashes as some of those corners made the finish more like a crit than a stage race final. EBH has ridden superbly, just a shame he got that disqualification earlier in the week otherwise he'd have probably won. I found it quite a boring finish really considering all the other fantastic roads they'd been around with all of the hills they could've done (avoided!) they could've had a hilltop finish on at least 1 of the final 2 stages. The technical corners, with lots of buildings just made the Cardiff TV coverage poor & disjointed. To be fair the ITV & Eurosport highlights of the last 2 stages missed out huge parts of the race, including several of the moves which defined the stage finishes & wins. Coverage earlier in the week was much better. My Eurosport app coverage for the complete race on sunday has 3 hours of footage which covers less than 2 hours of the race, with no commentary. The first part being a totally different race and the final part being superbikes... WTFBBQFFS!

Harry's a phenominal rider and TT'er, really has a suffering kinda face I can relate to! ;)

I can't think which races I'd seen him in pre the ToY this year? ToB 2016 or something I guess! He's really had a breakthrough year but now the Bike Channel is stopping I'm not sure what'll happen with the team? James L-W (Hank) is another I've followed (since his NFTO days) and Chris Opie too, all great British riders who deserve spots in decent teams!

Hopeful as Harry is only 22 he'll still get picked up by a WT team, he's certainly done enough riding in BE/NL that he should have the opportunity at pro-conti at least. His TT position seems to be getting more and more extreme! This year he's made it look like he's riding a frame several sizes too small due to the huge drop! Not sure that's just how the Canyon sizing looks/works though as he's tall?! #slammed

Yup! Really depressing! You end up really looking forward to the brighter days just to lift the spirits... Today has brightened up here though! :)

On the subject of Mullen, he's off to trek-segafredo for next season. Good gig that one.
Good call for him! Great rider, he'll do well.
