Great writeup and mini review, sounds a perfect bike for what you've got it for, even more perfect with that cashback! Kudos! Which insurer is that with? :)

It's with Vitality. You sign up, link a fitness tracker or your phone, then get discounts on stuff depending on how much exercise you do! Full disclaimer, the discounts are excellent, but their phone app is shockingly poor.

^guarantee it'll come out slightly heavier than planned, even after accounting for cable inner & outers, skewers, cages, bar tape, greases/lubes etc etc. Always the way :p
Definitely! Always does, and things always come out at slightly more. My aim is ~6kg and see what the reality is on the scales.

ahhh, - who needs brakes anyway ;)

Surely these would save a few grams? https://www.thm.bike/en/brakes/fibula-6.html #marginalgains

The amount I weigh, the brakes are somewhat needed :P haha and oh my damn goodness those brakes are sexy! That's crazy as! At that point you may as well get the 302g carbon crank set to save yourself another 200g :D #emptywallet

If you're trying to be a Weight Weenie, I have these 5g cages on my Bianchi...

https://www.carbonworks.de/produkte/

I just received some 60mm Chinese carbon clinchers from the Ebay shop recommended by @SoliD. They won't see any action until spring but will be mounted on the Rose so I can preserve my "nice" rims for the Bianchi exclusively.

I swapped the tan walls onto those and will be testing a new tyre out that many say is one of the best rides around... Veloflex Corsa/Master.

Might have to grab one of those. I have a couple of topeak carbon ones on my canyon but they're no way that light! That's crazy.

Everyone knows Titanium is heavier than Aluminium (actually they probably don't, I am a saddo) ;)

I didn't.

People usually use Ti to replace steel bolts which makes sense. Alu bolts probably aren't ideal on anything that takes significant stress?

Really on the anti tan-wall side of the fence. All black or nothing for me. It's like wearing black shoes with blue jeans, it's just not good practice.

Aluminium bolts really aren't common at all, it's quite a bit softer than steel and aluminium threads don't tend to last.

Steel is very very versatile, which is why it's so common! You obviously do pay a weight penalty where frames are concerned, but you can still go sub-8kg for an off the shelf bike, and less with custom builds. That's light enough for me, not being a pro.
