Which pedals is everyone using?

Bought some R540s from Amazon to give them a go but they turned up as "Light Action". No real idea how that compares to the standard R540s and they look a bit tacky with LIGHT ACTION written over the front. Just wanted to give SPD-SL a go to start but unsure if I should return these for something better.

They might be a good intro to SPD-SL. "Light Action" means they are easier to clip out of. Personally, I use Look Keo 2 Max pedals. Excellent things.

Probably my free hub :o

Will try to pop into my LBS and give Planet X an e-mail but not holding much hope!

I may have ordered some more items....

Missed out on the sizes I needed but just as well as my credit card statement resets at the weekend so I can return within the month to avoid shelling out :p

Ventoux triple done!

https://www.strava.com/activities/678074757

Ended up being a really enjoyable ride. Took it steady on the bedoin ascent as I knew the forest section was tough. I then got really into the second ascent and despite having a huge amount of fatigue from last week in the alps ended up around 4w/kg for the entire climb. The final ascent from Sault was very steady until it joins chalet reynard so wasn't a big issue

It's surprising how many people do it - I met one guy at the top who had just completed his second ascent but had started at 4am! Weather really was perfect - no jacket required on the descent as it was warm and still. It was around 30C but I seem to do well in the heat so it didn't bother me too much

Fantastic work. This is on my bucket list for next year was hoping to get out next month but didn't happen, Majorca instead in October though so not all bad

In other news my Wahoo Elemnt decided to install the firmware update I'd chose to ignore before starting my ride... right before the end of the 4th climb :( Will let the development team know as notcoolman.jpeg. Not too fussed as I got the main segment in (below) saved to the app before it shut itself down but still gash.

edit: combined files: https://www.strava.com/activities/678524644

I made this segment a while back and it's actually almost a 10m TT. Knocked 2:40s off my time with not a great strategy as I was mostly focusing on PR'ing the 3 climbs and not dawdling in between.

Stomach feeling a bit gross that said switching pre-ride/daily nutrition strategy for dat der fat adaption is most likely the culprit (along with the deficit). Still PR'd quite a bit despite this. Also don't think smashing it up the first segment with cold lungs did me any favours either...

I did this at the weekend too at our post club ride coffee stop... A woman sat behind the window tucking in to her breakfast wasn't best pleased :p:D

My SJCAM4000 Wifi arrived today too so took it out with me and will have a play with todays footage and plonk some up :)

Yeah I emailed them but their CS is always so slow to respond. Kinda don't want to order four sets of the same shoes as (two different sizes) as I'm already terrible at getting round to returning stuff to Wiggle with their 365 day returns! :p

Well... Wiggle can't be bothered to refund £5 per pair of shoes so instead suggest I order the product again and return it.

Useless!

Wiggle said:
We take great pride in the prices we pass on to our loyal customers but to do so, we need to be as up to speed on the current market as much as a possible.

As a result, this often means frequent changes in price and this is not solely a Wiggle practice. Sometimes the price may go up, or even better; go down. Unfortunately we can guarantee neither so for this reason we can’t offer any further discounts on the change in price.

This may not be the desired result and we’re sorry if this doesn’t suit, but you’ll be pleased to know that our prices are consistently lower and you can expect to continue to receive member discounts and sale prices on a regular basis.

You are welcome to return the shoes and reorder with the new price.

I hope this helps and have a great evening!

Easier to clip out of... but what is the trade off? Otherwise surely all would be light action?

I was tempted by Look but read that the cleats tend to wear out pretty quickly and with my relatively high mileage not sure I can be bothered for regular cleat changes. My SPDs have lasted well over 7000 miles without a change.

Im waiting for the Rapha Team Sky blow out sale at the end of the year. Sure to be some huge discounts there.

On their current sale. That brevet jersey is awesome. I bought one with the 20% offer they had before and have to say its excellent. The wind stopping bit is great.

just ordered Long Sleeve Brevet Jersey in Large. will see what it's like when it arrives, also Long Sleeve Jersey.

Actually spoke to another rider (complete stranger) on my ride today, saw him coming up behind and could then see his shadow sat on my wheel, had a good old chinwag before telling him I didn't mind towing on the flat but he was on his own on the upcoming climb :p

I'm tempted by the pink. It's the best.

As for Aeroad, I love mine. It's such a weapon. I wouldn't say it was massively on the comfy side, but not awful. Just stiff and very much lightweight, so that's what you get.
The ultimate is more comfortable and the endurace is like an armchair in comparison to the other two. But just riding my ultimate for a couple of weeks and then getting on the aeroad is like getting back in a fast car after driving a hire car.

TT update, had an afternoon to fit most parts.

Cabled up all the brakes and shifters.

Couldn't get a cable end in the frame in one spot, seemed like too much paint or water under the paint. Got the Dremel out and very gently opened it up a little.

Running the internal cables I thought was gonna be a bad job but an old spoke was invaluable. Bike light held in my mouth feed the cable with one hand and catch it using the spoke with the other.

Connected it all up and realised I had done it euro style... Luckily the brakes are easier to recable than the shifters.

Not sized a chain before, just copied my old chain in the past. Just did it a couple of links at a time rather than break too much off.

Gears tuned up easy peasy & brakes aligned.

All built up, just need to torque the bars up and wrap them in tape. Saddle in the post still.

I know you should go big to big plus 2 links.

I didn't have the RD cabled up at that stage so I held it by hand in the big ring and guesstimated. I took two links off, connected up, bit slack still, take two off, almost there, one more & it looked good.

From memory on my R5 I take off 5 or 6 so I'm in the ballpark. Goes up & down all gears and combinations. Gearing is the same as my R5 & chain stays are similar length so should be almost identical.
