Road Cycling

Both should be under warranty then!

Ha quick email to specialized and they have agreed with the local shop I use to replace both the headset and the rear wheel. :p brilliant :D

They did try to squirm a bit but when I mentioned it is a cyclocross I expected it to be tough they folded :p

Bike Manufacturers are all crooks! Well some are ok. I dropped an email to felt saying I needed some new bolts as the old ones had rounded (stupid star bolts) Asked when they would be back in stock and they said their store was out of action, so would send some for free. Posed the cheeky question of one other part I was after and they said they'd pop it in the envelope! Great customer service.

Unlike them!

They did just get bought over and are in a mess for ordering bikes and parts.

Hey guys, i'm looking at getting a 4iiii power meter (Ultegra) and noticed most places selling it for £469... Doesnt seem to be much in the way of competitive pricing between stores.

I thought I'd ask in here if that's close to the going rate before ordering if not I'll hold of (in no rush).

Any input is appreciated!

Itchy Trigger finger...

I think the 105 version has gone for near enough £300 recently. Not sure if it is worth going for Ultegra over the 105 unless there is a real weight difference that would cause a noticeable imbalance?

I want my bike :( This nice weather and I can't even ride it. Tempted to go and just take it home with the flat pedals until the other kit comes in, just so I can ride it, and then trigger people when they see me on the road

"Oh now that's a nice bike, just look at......wait....ARE THOSE FLAT PEDALS?!"

They were ~£390 the other week at Ribble IIRC, best Ultegra price I can see today is £431 at Cycle Republic.

They'll just think you're a triathlete

Nice, cheers mate. Being a new customer I get a further £15 off.

Before i order, is there anything to confirm first. As in, is there 2 generations of this? (Like Stages). Not read anything regarding this in reviews so I don't think so.

Cheers

CVR Spring Series Race #3 Zone E bracket C last night. London 8 which meant two climbs of Box hill. I had hoped my legs where pretty good after the good outside miles last saturday but didn't feel as good as I did last week. Admittedly a harder course tonight. I had some technical issues and totally messed up the start but settled in for a finish in 15th place (13th on CVR) which seems like my usual placing this season. Still happy with the result, will put a ride report in the Zwift thread. My climbs of Box are a minute slower than my PR up there but I paced it well, only 7 seconds slower the second time up. Suffer score seems to have changed on Strava premium!

I'm a bit disappointed in my last race that I didn't take any real risks, especially in the final 5 laps.
The fact you've been in 2 crits and not had a get down is more amazing, it's certainly not the place to take risks! Just keep riding them and the race positioning will come. I'm sure the more you ride them the 'safer' they get!

So my Scott weighs in at 6.1kg without bottle cage and pedals. Was hoping for under 6 but hey. Reckon I could shave margins off (about 300g off crank with carbons for example) but hey, it's light as.
Crazy! Almost half the weight of my Diverge how I'm normally riding it (11.8kg), but that's with pedals, winter tyres, mudguards, gadgets & bags! ;)

Biggest ride done today, 70km @ 1000m. Actually fairly flat for the distance, considering the terrain out here. Not too bad for being a roadie for less than two weeks. It's ridiculously expensive. Ride yesterday was nearly 500m over 20km.
Amazing riding around there, I remember the roads being pretty damn good too but I dread to think what the drivers are like! :o

Usually you get oil with a new bike..

Haha, hope you got the other Canyon extras too! At least it wasn't a brochure featuring Kittel and that damn annoying TV advert which I must've seen 50 million times on the Eurosport app...

Christ! I only have 4!

That 3T Exploro is looking tempting now... :p
Have to admit I'm loving the look of most of the 3T's at the moment. Shame the 3T Strada is so badly designed (rear cutout easily gets tears in the carbon due to debris sticking in it!)...

Tune MIG and MAG, low spoke count, shallow section carbon tubs. And it's actually 915g....

Extralite hubs are even sillier....
Beautiful & just shows what can be done when cost, value and robustness are not considerations! I imagine they'll get a load of requests once word gets out to the hill climb fanatics...

It's here!!!

Got a phone call this afternoon saying that my Bianchi Oltre XR3 Disc had arrived early. Just got back from picking it up and it's absolutely beautiful. <3 It's not the lightest bike in the world, but it's not too hefty at 7.9kg (according to my digital luggage scales). A new bar/stem combo can easily shave that down by 2-300 grams.
It's an aero bike, it doesn't need to be lighter than 8kg! Really want some top quality drool pics asap pls! ;) :D

Quick photo for you randomshenans.

Think I need a new house, garage isn't big enough!

@SoliD wins the bike count competition.

Inflite looks great, toptube kink looks far less pronounced in your picture/reality than in the review pics and Canyon website. Still a shame you couldn't get it in YELLOW! ;)

3/4 races do tend to be a bit wait for the sprint, especially crits. The odd attack, but mostly just people gassing themselves and never getting anywhere unless they are a cut above. 2nd cat racers on the whole tend to be a little more tactical I'd agree. People have the legs to get away with well timed attacks and the team element adds another dimension. Breakaways do have more chance to get away if well represented. it's generally just a lot more enjoyable than low category racing.
Good summary, thanks for the clarification/confirmation :)

Sounds like xdcx! Although he seems to have disappeared!
Isn't he back to taking up running now? Probably like @FrenchTart and 90% of all the other runners out there, injured 50% of the time. #shotsfired ;)

Great result and totally as expected/justified. LBS should've already thought/suggested that already if you got it from them?!

Who owns Felt now?

DO IT! I'm sure the shop will agree with you. Although don't you have pedals from your BTwin you could swap over?

Imagine how quick you'd be up Pencombe without lumping all that stuff up with you :p
Pfft! You've actually seen how much I carry! Don't make me pull out segment times up there from our ride! :D ;)

To be fair my mudguards are nearly 1.5kg so much of that and being a gravel bike it's not designed to be light. The Praxis crankset on there is also known to be quite a heavyweight... #excuses

The rider on top is also closer to 80kg than he should be! :o

He's still alive and posts occasionally on facebook. I havn't spoken to him recently but I think he's been otherwise occupied and not been doing much cycling. For those who missed it, this post probably explains all:

I just read all of the new baby section over the past week

Finally after a whole month my Tacx Vortex has been repaired (by Tacx) and is on the way back to me - just in time for the sunshine/dry roads and therefore absolutely no need for a turbo trainer.
