Robert Jordan’s fantasy epic The Wheel of Time coming to TV

Sorry who is Fin again?

I am defo 100% going to get the books, whether physical books or audio books remain to be seen :)

They have been removed from the TV show due to a forced change, as the actor who was playing Mat quit after the sixth episode and so they had to re-jig the storyline for the last two episodes in season one. I won't spoil it if you are going to read/listen to the books, but the Mat storyline in the white tower is very different. He meets a group of beings known as the Finn. The Aelfinn due to events in the white tower, and the Eelfinn because of another event we haven't reached in the TV series yet. It has been hinted at though so I trust it will happen in season 3.

The story from the books is very enjoyable and worthwhile if you can power through the middle ish bit. I can't remember exactly what books it is, but towards the middle they are a mess and don't seem to do anything for the storyline. You could probably easily make four of the books one, and still not miss anything important. I think I skipped whole chapters in my last re-read, it really is a bloated mess and that bad. As soon as Sanders takes over the quality is great again.

Mat 'meets' the aelfinn in Tear after its taken and the eelfinn in rhuidean
both of these events are in book 4.

I have read the books years ago and the Audio books and really enjoying the TV show.

A good series that is vastly overrated but has a Shakespearean style Taliban following for some reason. The books could be over and done with in 4 instead of 14/15

I've enjoyed this. Seems to be the only people who don't are those who read the books, so I'll happily ignore the books and continue enjoying the show!

Always the way with these things.
Just ignore nerds.
They never seem to get you cannot reproduce a book/series, especially one like this. The only people who would watch it would be uber nerds and then it would be canned for no audience in effect.

The books are good. They vary from poor to great as mentioned elsewhere.

I have been a little bemused at times with the series, but if you can disconnect from the books, its well worth watching.

No way! I agree 7-10 get bogged down and littles happens to progress the story which couldnt be missed out but even if you condensed them into one book, you would still have 11 books.

It would be a very light read with little or none character development if you tried to condense it into 4 books. Hell even the tv show isnt attempting that! Its pretty much one book per season albeit events are reordered a bit and a lot are dropped.

Ok i was a bit harsh.... 5 and half books but no more !!

Thing is this show now better get green lit for the entire series, their is no easy stopping point.

The seemingly endless bit in the desert, the moraine back story which I think they have done in about 10mins. The rest I probably can't remember to be fair.

Yes let's get rid of a key plot point because some folks don't like it, you'll probably get your wish as I expect the showrunners will gut that like everything else so far - if it gets renewed beyond s3 that is

If it gets a series 3, this show looks like it has an expensive production run.

Anyone know if filming has commenced? For season 3?

Listening to the Prequel. Its a little slow but introducing Lan and Moiraine's background. I guess this lays out all of the main characters of who they are and their situation at the moment.

Found it a little unnecessary personally - from memory we get a general gist of lan/moiraines backstory throughout the main series as well as what sets moiraine and siuan on their path to find the dr.
