all apart again, now on the back it has 2 hydraulic fittings medium and small, which are? ....... thats right 4mm and 5mm. The gun has lots of these fittings, 10+ I havnt counted them all yet! just doing them as I see them.

making a start on the barrels, settled n 3.2mm for the width of the barrels. I was hoping I could use styrene for them but they seem to want to flex.

DSC09037.JPG

trimmed these down and cut a groove in one although I think its too small now looking at the pics

mock up looks ok, im not happy with the styrene so I have ordered some 3.2mm aluminium tube, im all out of 20mm rod so I cant remake the other bit either!

First class!!!

You should be very happy with yourself. I wish I had the skills to do this sort of stuff.

I believe it's all about the passion and interest you have for a particular project. If you have it then even the most difficult tasks become very interesting. Then you become totally immerse in the project.

Time for some styrene,

the glue I got is for styrene and it kinda melts it as it sticks so when dry it makes an almost seamless join, like a weld.

this part wasnt really possible in delrin, to machine it out of a solid block would have been unnecessary as it looks to be pretty thin all over.

some paint

mounted up and the two little tags added with super small hex bolts.

That is looking sweet! Love the look of that delrin, it doesn't look like it even needs painting or anything as it looks very similar to the picture of the real model.

Just a thought here but if this model is finished in time (around december time believe), have you considered exhibiting it at summat like the model engineering exhibition in London? It appears to me to be perfect type of thing to put on display, and having been to this exhibition a few times in the past, I reckon its something that'll create a bucketload of interest and also give you a further location to showcase your work and skills. I can certainly imagine the look on most peoples faces if they saw this.
Wadya think?

Hello, yeh I know what your saying, I took my guns to a airsoft meeting once and it was nice to meet a few people but it was a fairly long/boring day. I tend to get a lot of questions and requests for information and quotes, its a lot easier to deal with this on email as I can tackle them in my own time. Plus I dont fancy the risk of having to take the robot somewhere it might get damaged, stolen, etc, its a risk, not a great risk but when you've spent a year making something its easy to be paranoid.
