Robot Wars returning to BBC2!

Meh it was ok.

Loved robot wars back in the day.

The guy that made hypnodisc he was an engineer and I got him to make a counter weight for my Astrophysics AP900 mount :D

Carbide is my fav at the moment. Its a bit slow and not very maneuverable
so can't get into space to get that weapon spinning up once it slows down following a hit.

I always wanted to go on Robot wars. My idea was to build a robot with a pincer at the rear like Razer and a Disc/spinning thing at the front.

Is he the guy that makes custom airgun parts?

Btw does anyone know of any project logs for any of the past or present robots?

Pretty much standard robot wars, there are always loads of robots that are just lolsauce.

Shame about Razor, used to love watching it mash people. :)

the problem with razor was there driving ability, maybe it was them or just a poor handling robot. its a precision weapon and they really got it to hit on vital parts, and now the amour is so much better it is just rubbish and doesn't have enough power. all fight they targeted one bot and did well nothing to it.

even carbide was struggling with the amour on the decent bots.

It was nice to see Razor again, always one of my favourite robots , but they were fairly pathetic. Hope they come back next time and can seriously up their game / tactics.

Enjoyable first episode, but I miss Craig Charles and Pip.

Looked to me that the targetted bot was pretty thin/small so I just dont think it could get a grip. Then got owned by the pit. :)

Nothing has changed from Robot Wars of 12 years ago. They have even got the same house robots. I would have thought that they would have changed things up a bit.I'm not sure this is a good or bad thing but I found myself getting quite bored after the first couple of rounds. It was nice and nostalgic at first but I drifted off and just played The Division.

They needed to spice it up a bit and add something new. Technology has moved on a bit with better batteries, computers and materials but the programme just seemed the same with Dara O'Briain hosting instead of Craig Charles.

Just watched it and thought it was great. Makes me wish i went into engineering :(.

Also liked the technical talk about hardox and the new battery/motor tech, hope theres more of that sort of stuff as I find it interesting. There is a guy on youtube that uses hardox to make swords and it seems like tough stuff. I'm not convinced the materials are that much better than what was available 10 years ago though. People just used rubbish materials out of choice, like aluminium sheet, probably as its cheap and light.

Yeah, that!

Carbide was pretty awesome, looking forward to seeing the rest of the series now. Shame Razor screwed up, but it does look like it is well and truly outgunned these days!

This has taught me new things about people that I thought I knew...

My GF revealed that she loved Robot Wars and used to watch it all the time. She was commenting on how Behemoth was in the early series and didn't originally have a srimech, and how Razer was great. Then she started asking if Hypnodisc and Chaos 2 were coming back!

And then my sister text me saying "Omg Robot Wars is back!" and said its not the same without Sergeant Bash and Wheely Big Cheese!

I never knew this about them!
