Robot Wars returning to BBC2!

They essentially have to run away to give the spinner time to spin up, otherwise it does zero damage.
Yes, but when the spinner is broken and they never turn round again, it’s running away.

Eruption were aggressive the full duration of the fight and were fully functional at the end.

What a fantastic end to a brilliant series! I think that was possibly the best episode of Robot Wars ever.

The 10 robot rumble actually lived up to its billing. I was expected a pointless, confused, mess but it actually came together really well and it looks like the best robot won. Apollo could have taken it with better driving and I think one of the two drum spinners could have taken it if they hadn't pitted themselves. Well done to clever tactics and good driving from Eruption though.

Nuts 2 taking out Carbide was beautiful. Loved seeing that, and the simple technical fix for the rematch was clever too (although I think simply putting the robot in upside down would have worked). Nuts 2 is a nicely leftfield robot, far better than it looks and the first team to actually make silly little cluster bots count. Rapid ending on fire was entertaining, and I loved the team's reaction. Magnetar was let down by a weak SRiMech but otherwise well built, and how robust is Behemoth to take all those flips!?

Excellent final fight too. Flipper vs. Spinner remains a classic battle. Eruption deserved to take it on control and aggression. Carbide failed to get in a really good hit while their weapon was working and Eruption cleverly held off flipping when they'd end up hit with their weapon open and vulnerable.

Loved Angela getting wildly over-excited too :)

The spinner seemed intermittent, it was running then stopped, then was working again at a slower speed. There's not much they can do against a flipperbot if their spinner is busted, going head on with it is only going to see them getting flipped around. it was really a lose\lose after the spinner died, run away or take more damage, the outcome would have been the same more than likely.

Excellent final and close call in the end could have gone either way.

Glad rapid got smashed to bits, that Harry Potter bloke is such a plank!

Look forward to a new carbide next season.

I knew as soon as Eruption won the rumble that he’d win the final. The way the show has been edited, it’s pretty much been hinting and mentioning his “lifelong dream” every 5 minutes. Nothing against the guy but he seems creepy.

Disappointed I didn’t see it shredded to bits, but the final was a good battle in the end.

Lol at Behemoth going down the pit and for the rapid team at building a robot so powerful it can’t self right without crippling itself.

A great series.

So happy Eruption won, I don't think it's the best robot in the competition but for me it's the best driver in the competition by far. He's consistently outmaneuvered his opponents in every battle.

Dave M's reaction after Nuts beat them was amazing :D

Kind of wish it had been done in the next round so Carbide couldn't engineer a fix for the rematch (all for ingenuity, but to be beaten in one way and then engineer a fix for the exact same opponent in a rematch in the same episode felt a little cheap to me - always thought that chain guard was what it was missing though)

I really do try to like Eruption but I just can't, it's almost like there is 0 fun in it for him. Hid away for 3/4 of the 10 way battle too.

But that was smart, flippers have a limited number of flips. If he goes in early and runs out of power he can't self right (which I think happened to Apollo) he picked his moment well.

Oh I completely agree it was smart and the most sensible thing to do from a competitive view point. Just not a very fun way of going about things :p If everyone did that it'd have been a very boring fight.

Do think if the drum spinners hadn't pitted themselves they'd have been in with a shot vs the limited gas supplies flippers

Magnetar only being able to self right once is a bit of a huge design flaw, that was always going to be it's downfall. Fix that and they could have a very good robot.

Imagine it was issues with the srimech rather than poor design. Old pulsar used to use it to flip off opponents and it came up & retracted afterwards.

All I wanted to see this episode was Carbide vs Magnetar, bar to drum, nobody knows what would happen :p

Glad its not just me, the mrs things he looks like a young mr bean. He seemed very tactical and i think he deserved it. Nuts is still a joke imo, to just sit there and spin while cluster bots run around is wrong imo. If the rules were modified so that its more than 50% of robots excluding wieght i.e. if 2 cluster bots get destroyed leaving the main bot then you lose, then that could get interesting. He did very well tho to survive the 10 robot rumble and then win outright. Im not convinced rapid is that good considering how much that little guy keeps on going on about it. Seems other robots are much better for a lot less money.

I've gotta say, after the crappy last series, the final 2 episodes of this one were brilliant, really good final fight and a well deserved winner.

Nice to hear a bit of potentially exciting news from Carbide too about their future.

Expulsion and Tracktion went out in the 10 way rumble which I'm happy about as they should have never got that far. I don't blame eruption for hanging back as a flipper that's what he needed to do to get through, really enjoyed the episode on a whole though. A bit worrying the official robot wars twitter said that IF the show come back then fog of war would be scrapped. Good about fog of war, not so good about if and when the show get's another series. I know the show hasn't set the viewing figures alight but he has been up against the likes of blue planet and X-factor so it was never going to be amazing. Hopefully the STEM aspect of it will give it extra educational value.

I both like and hate nuts. Rules need changing. They say they can move, but they essentially can't.
And they still need qauli get fights where unless you can injury an opponent you don't get on the series.
