Rocket lake leaks

I wonder where Dave is, he just suddenly disappeared

There are no good news:

- the CEO failed and stepped down;
- Rocket Lake is a sidegrade in the best case;
- no one knows if the 10nm process will ever deliver the target performance with Alder Lake

What was a point of releasing 11xxx. Just a stop gap, so people wont forget about them. Anyone that will be upgrading to 11xxx series must be a bit daft. When intel will be releasing new cpu's later in the year.
I don’t think many on 10th would bothered to go to 11th.

people on earlier gens will have a choice of Zen3, Zen2, 10th Gen or this 10th Gen clone.

right now based on availability and prices 10th low end sku KF parts look really good value even compared with zen2 which I’m usually bodes well for £/core. But prices on amd parts have gone up on zen2 and zen3

again, only time will tell !

things quite often go from bad to worse when this sort of thing happens

id hope with the minds at intel that is less likely to happen though !

Intel can’t be any worse can they. So this got to be an upturn.

Intel’s entire architecture and fabrication process needs to be overhauled - Intel are swapping to the fabrication process that AMD use, which makes it clear who has the advantage. This is not a quick thing, it’s years of work to move to the new platform and then they need to actually be competitive while other companies jump ahead.

11th gen is a joke, their top end chip has 8 cores, which shows how much they’re struggling. They’re going to lose an entire market segment.

Alder lake is coming with 4 large and 4 small cores; great for laptops maybe but who wants that for a desktop if it isn’t a lot cheaper than the equivalent AMD chip?

They’re losing their server market because AMDs platform is better for efficient high core count units.

Currently have the 6700k i7 which I've had for around 5 years and want to upgrade to 8 cores my uses are gaming and general use was waiting to see what rocket lake would be priced at

Think the best 2 options I have is 5800x currently at £380 and in-stock or 10850k £400

is it not just the intel tick tock thing where one is a big release and then one is a slightly improved one etc etc ?
Intel abandoned that a long time ago when they couldn't keep up with it any more. Skylake in 2015 was the last "tock" and they've been ticking incessantly since then. Everything they've released on desktop since 2015 has been a Skylake refresh, just with higher clocks and more cores.

Rocket Lake actually is the first "tock" since Skylake on desktop, so would be expected to be a relatively large jump. Doesn't really look like one though, which is probably due to it being a hasty backporting of a new architecture onto an old process because their foundries are still a disaster.

Are these pricing right. Why is the KF more expensive that the K.

was hoping intel will be competitive on the price so AMD will lower their price to match.

Clearly not the case. So much for cheaper CPUs. Will have to wait till Oct/Nov for discount at this rate.
