strange, the temps are moving now but they are pretty low, almost as if the 1700x offset removal has been applied to my 1700 twice!

Think that’s what's happening as my temp look to be 20C lower than they should be.

yeh at idle its cooler than the room temp

Can't get cooler than ambient unless you are cooling with sub zero substances i.e LN2 etc...

Disable Sense MI Scew.
Temps seem a lot better with it disabled.

With Sense MI Scew disabled the CPU temp does look better but the package temp is 20C higher, maybe that correct? Whats the normal idle package temp?

New bios is allowing me to run my ram at 2900 instead of 2600 at last. So that's me happy with a 1700X at 3.9 (using pstates) and ram at 2900. Its been stable for months now in real world usage so I will now see if the increase in ram speed has had any effect on stability.

I tried my RAM (4*8GB G.SKILL 3200 CL14) @ 2966(think it’s that, could be 2933) with 1403 and it looks to work fine. I put it back to 2666 CL16 as I have a new project to do for work so need it to be problem free until its done but it’s the first BIOS that would boot > 2666.

It all depends on what ram you have, how much you have and the alignment of the planets when you build your computer.

3200 with 2*8GB is not a problem, add an extra 2*8G and things change. I have not tried 3200 on the new BIOS so dont know if it will run yet.
