** ROG SEXYNESS: THREE NEW ROG SWIFTS COMING SOON!! **

although from a legal perspective I don't know how they think they can get away with this when they're advertising the monitor as 100Hz capable.

If you run it at 100hz for longer than a second and then it blows up then they are telling the truth as it is technically 100hz capable. ;)

Whether its sustainable and trouble free afterwards is another monitor but it is capable !

That's like saying you're capable of surviving a shotgun blast to the face, as your heart will continue to beat for a few minutes afterwards.

Yes.
Acer said running at 100Hz won't void warranty. But I've asked for it in writing from HQ. :)

Running it at the advertised spec won't void the warranty... so generous of them. I think what people want to know and specifically the guy who asked you was if it doesn't run at 100hz will you guys or Acer replace it with one that does free of charge? If not, then it shouldn't be advertised as 100hz monitor.

Are all these other monitors, Asus 100/165hz monitors also simply overclocked?

I mean I have a 144hz panel freesync panel that cost under £300, if I bought the same thing at 165hz at £500... but never use it above 144hz anyway, it's just an excuse to whack literally the same panel up to another price point for no reason.

Buying a *sync panel and paying way more for a refresh rate you won't use seems, well, ridiculous.

The specs looks good, the design looks good.. the price though is terrible but of course its new tech so it carries a premium. Im just happy dandy with my LG 29um57, little beast overclocks to 75hz with ease and really springs to life when you do it. Im going to stay with it until g-sync/freesync/adaptive sync is the rule rather than the exclusive feature.

The principle benefit i can think of with 165 is that it raises the cap at witch fps induces lag close to the v sync / g-sync limit. Even if you don't intend to run at 165 the module can take it. Then you can set fps_max at 155 or whatever you think is appropriate.

165hz requires 6.06 response times which is right on the limit of the panel.

I don’t have a problem with maxing it out per say and someone like tftcentral will be able to ascertain if there is any degradation running at that rate.

Asus is 3yr on-site once the customer has owned for 7 days or longer. Asus will swap unit on doorstep or take away and repair normally with 48-72hr turn-around but they tend to mostly swap at door.

I've experienced this with ASUS...new monitor showed up at my door, swapped my old monitor and that was it...hardest bit and most effort was having to unplug all the cables and plug them back in...

So is there anything you can do to stop us getting bad ASUS PG348Q monitors at this price

Thanks

Nope, we won't open new monitors and one mans perfect monitor is another persons nightmare. So all we could really do would be dead pixel checking service which would also be pointless as dead/stuck pixels are so rare nowadays.

Gibbo - What's your sense of where the 4k Monitor market is going and will there be more 4K IPS screens with HDMI2.0 coming this year? Sorely tempted by the ROG 4K IPS but need more inputs...

Hi,

About to pre-order a PG279Q. Been waiting a while for these to become available.

Before I drop 750 quid.

Does anyone know for the HDMI. Will it support you connecting other devices (Wii U, PS4 etc) similar to Freesync monitors or are you limited? Mainly due to this statement

From the specs:
The HDMI only supports 2560 x 1440 @ 60Hz

Just a question, if you will not open new monitors, how will you do dead pixel checks

How much would you charge for it.
