I loved Empire.
It's still my favourite TW game and am tempted to go back to it and start a campaign again. It was my favourite era so far.

The lack of real open field battles kills this, wtf were they thinking with the capture the flag BS?
They've removed it for some open field battles in the new patch. It was designed for the defenders to not play hide and seek or camp in their boats and run the timer down so they win. Downside is that it's in a random position and the defender can't use the terrain to his advantage.
They are also a terrible tactic for the AI, currently defending a small town and was outnumbered 4:1 and the AI got slaughtered because instead of fighting a tactical battle, it just charged every unit to the flag in one mass mob to the flag, without attacking anybody.
But I'm guessing siege engines don't cap points there's 5 units still on the edge of the map, I can't ride out and attack them because everybody gets bombarded to pieces,so I'm just counting the clock down now...
Hi all,
We’re pleased to announce that Total War: ROME II Patch 3 is now available for beta.
This update brings a host of improvements, including improvements to some low-end machines on the campaign map. There are also multiple crash fixes, fixes to elements of AI behaviour in battles and the campaign, and improvements to both balancing and usability and a wide range of general improvements, fixes and tweaks.
Disclaimer: There are one or two known issues with the beta that we are looking to resolve before rolling this out further, with ALT-Tabbing and changing game resolution. We are aware of these issues and there is no need to report them in our patch feedback threads.
The team has been working tirelessly on this update, and we believe it will bring great benefits, but please do let us know how you get on with them by reporting feedback here.
As always, full patch notes are available on the wiki, please check here for more details.
All being well, we’ll be looking to roll this update out to everyone sometime next week, but in the meantime, if you’d like to play, here’s what you need to do to access the beta:
In your steam game library, right click Total War: Rome II. Then choose Properties and select the BETAS tab. Finally select “patch3beta” from the drop down list.
Thank for your time.
Regards,
