Rome 2 : Total War

Loving the look of this. Will it be OK for a new total war player to jump in with this or is it better to try one of the older ones? They look so daunting though :P

Part of the problem with TW games is that they don't always cover everything you *actually* need to know in the tutorials.

For example, I struggled with money for AGES in Napoleon, until I found out by asking a friend that I had to put my trade ships in some gold circles at the edge of the map for them to actually make me any money!

You may be better off starting with an earlier game, either original RTW or Medieval 2, depending on what time period interests you.

They all do play differently though, because of course battle tactics that work in Rome don't work quite the same when everyone's packing muskets ;)

Syria v (US and UK)? Should last a couple of weeks. ;)

It's not Syria vs the UK though. There were many minor conflicts leading up to WW1 and WW2. The parallels are there. You just need to understand history.

In fact some historians believe that WW1 never truly ended, and that WW2 was almost inevitable because of the burdens placed on Germany at Versailles.

There's going to a major conflict centered around the Middle East within the next decade or so.

Jump straight in, if you're not familiar with the series, you're going to be a bit daunted where ever you start.

They're really not that complicated or daunting though, it just takes a little while to get used to managing your faction. Follow the tutorials and play around for a bit.

For those who pre-ordered via steam, preloading apparently starts at 18:00 tonight. Unlocks at 8am next Tuesday :) cannot wait.

How poorly do you guys reckon this will run on a 3570k intel on-board chip? :(

Not sure I want to splash >£150 on a gfx card for one game (I have recently been playing Civ 5 and have a lot of Steam games), plus I already have an unused PS3 and XBOX360.

The HD4000 can't even run Torchlight 2, Bastion or Street Fighter so I'm guessing if you get the res to 800x600 or so, and put everything possible on minimum you may get 30 or so fps.

It'll be a waste of time mate.

Sell the PS3 and XBOX then buy GPU, that's my advice.

I haven't really read up about this game at all so dont know much about it. I played total war 1 back in the day and it great at the time....how do you think this will compare? Im kinda bored at the moment with pc gaming as iv finished all the games that i enjoyed and don't really play on anything apart from counterstrike source at the moment lol.

need a change of pace from FPS gaming.
