I think that is just major bad luck. I've received quite a few games on the day of release.

The way the cultural victory works does seem like it has similar mechanics to Civ.

'You can try to flip other cultures to follow your own and conquer through cultural expansion'.

Pre-ordered from GMG. Will pre-load when I get home, surprised no reviews out for this yet? Reviews seem to more frequently come out when the game is already released nowadays, hopefully this wont be another Colonial Marines!

I'm going to spread my culture with swords & shields. Spread some "Freedom" around until they follow.

But why is it £4 more expensive for the download from GMG* than getting a DVD copy from them?

*I'm not picking on GMG I'm sure this is still the case with most companies that sell through both channels.

I love the original Shogun TW but haven't played any of the other games since then. What's really tempting me is the Romebot unlock for Mann vs Machine. /shame

Will that be available later?

Well, I pre-ordered from GMG ages ago. I ordered the boxed version as where I live my broadband is only 2m/b at best. Just emailed them to ask when they would be sending the boxed version, and was told it would not be posted until midday on Monday, so don't fancy my chances of having this on release day

Since the servers unlock on release day. they should be sending out early, to allow people to install and be ready to play when they open.

But, it never happens like that.

You get that a lot tbh and limited editions being cheaper than the normal versions for some bizarre reason

OK, so ordered from GMG and the codes does not work!!!

Got my key from SEGA, tried to activate it on Steam and got a "Total War: Rome II has not officially released and cannot be unlocked at this time" error. See the game in my library and preload it, which steam says has been completed.

Where does this preload get downloaded to? Cus it's not in my common folder that I can see. Has it just preloaded the dlc or something and the error has prevented me from adding the game just yet?

I've read somewhere the pre load is 9GB~ which unlocks to 16GB~ for launch.

So you download the 16gb which is zipped to the 9gb, you just have to un pack it and then patch to play on release day.

Correct me if i'm, wrong, as i am not too sure on this.

Think it's stored and encrypted somewhere in the Steam directory so you can't view anything before release. The download for me was 9GB as said above.

pre load is 9.9gb. I read on the official forums the full game is 28gb, so it will take a while to unpack all those files. Then there's the official day 1 patch, then you are good to go. Roll on 6pm 3/09/13. I've booked the 4th off work so i'll unlock, play till late in the night, get some sleep, and play all day on the 4th. The only time i'll stop is to eat some junk food or go to the toilet. FOR ROME!

fingers crossed for no CTD's freezing and game breaking bugs etc lol
