Rome 2 : Total War

I absolutely adore TW games but I am holding out with this release. I want to see what some of you guys think first. I much prefer historical realism over 'gamey fun'. TW has been very good at both in the past. Hopefully some damn fine realism mods (darth mod anyone?) will appear soon.

If you read the comments most of the people on there either seem to not like TW games ????? (on the official forums) and/or have only played it for 1/2 hour. Waiting for some informed comments from here but hopefully it will be on my door mat this evening when I get in.

Made me laugh when you have comments saying its poor like all TW games. If you find them all poor why buy them. People amaze me daily.

Dare I say it? but I think the same thing of those that complain about every Call of Duty release... they still buy them all lmao!

Anyways, back on topic: I hereby vent my frustration at those of you lucky enough to be playing when my copy is sat literally ON my PC at home and I'm here doing "paperwork" >_<

This time I am not making the mistake of visiting either the TW or official forums until I have played the game for a while. In the past I gave far to much credence to what the fanatics were posting over there.
As with previous TW games on release they both seem to be filled with so much hate with the game being ripped apart before people have had the time to play much of the campaign to see how the so called "inadequacies" balance out in gameplay.

It is installed for me now (18.5GB) and on loading up the home screen it seemed to default to the highest graphical settings, I will see when into the campaign how that works out.
With 8GB of DDR 3, 3570k at 4.4Ghz and a GTX670 I am hopeful of a decent amount of bling at 1080p. First impressions are very smooth around the campaign map etc, but that is as much as I have done so far.

What did the darth mod do? I used it in Shogun 2 but the only difference I noticed was there were more units on screen (and thus even worse performance), what else did it add? :o
