Roy Hodgeson

I'm completely ignoring this fact, except I brought up the fact that his away record at Fulham was abysmal, would you care to explain how thats ignoring it?

Also I don't know his away record with Inter, or anyone else, do you?

His away record is **** poor with every club he's managed. Taken from a Guardian artical from 27th Novemeber (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/nov/27/liverpool-roy-hodgson) out of 70 away matches in the PL he's won 9 (now 9 in 72). He also had a 2 year spell without winning away whilst in Norway.

I won't argue that the rot started under Benitez but clearly Hodgson isn't the sort of manager to change that.

So despite the fact that Hodgson has won less league games away from home in his career in England than we won in the 08/09 season alone, the fact that we had a decent record away from home on the whole under Benitez, DM is ignoring all of that and even ignoring the first half of last season, and blaming our entire away form on a 5 month spell? :o

BTW DM, we only lost 3 of those 9 games in those 5 months, we've lost 6 in 9 this season. So even if Benitez turned us into a shocking side away from home at the turn of the year, we're clearly getting worse this season.

Poor as Benitez was last season, I cant see a side that he was managing conceeding a goal of that fashion like they did for Newcastles third yesterday.

The argument seems to be that the poor for started under Benitez, but what was Hodgson brought in to do if not stop the decline?

He's not a Liverpool manager, simple as that really. Never says anything truly outrageous, yet somehow always manages to speak in a manner that you just wouldn't expect from a club such as Liverpool. So many examples already where you just think wtf are you saying, does he even understand the level he is currently managing at?

Doesn't appear to. His latest comment about Liverpool wanting to be a top half club says it all. Mid table mediocrity might be acceptable for him but it's not for us.

Haven't read any of the thread given its lengthy discussion but I think it's becoming clear that Hodgson isn't just unlucky. The players are not doing their stuff for him.

I was rather baffled by how much the papers (at least what I've read) seem to have brushed over the fact Liverpool have lost again. I know it was Newcastle and the whole saga this week puts them in the spotlight in terms of the result but nothing seems to be noted of Liverpool.

Says it all really. They're a team dreadfully underperforming, despite beating Chelsea this season.

I'm not a Liverpool fan and therefore I would naturally give him more time but even I think he's had it now. A new manager to come in and make a signing or two in January is needed for them to save their season from being another year wasted.

perhaps liverpool fans need to readjust their expectations..you have a fine history, but lets be honest you have been also rans in the league recently, your ground isn't really big enough to generate the kind of income you need and you don't have the financial clout to compete with chelsea/city or united

until you can you are going to only have an outside chance of competing

and if you want to have a real tilt at the title you are going to need a whole new squad..and wheres that sort of cash going to come from

It's because he's English. Also most of said media wanted him to get the job so they're hardly going to make themselves look bigger fools by turning on him. I am still baffled why we got him as manager. He was always clueless with an average managerial record.

It's not really about expectations from what I can see. A recent example would be an interview just before the West Ham game:

http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...808/6/hodgson-fears-liverpool-without-gerrard

Why is he essentially saying how **** Liverpool are without Gerrard? What's wrong with the tried and trusted answer 'any team would miss a player of his quality'? Make the loss about how good the player is, not how poor the team is without him.

Top class managers don't generally speak like that, what kind of confidence is that supposed to give the squad? As it happened Liverpool acheived a comfortable victory over West Ham, seemingly despite Hodgson.

I think it started from Ryan Babel saying there was a CEO meeting but it was for his record label.. but due to him being illiterate people got the wrong idea.

Yup, Kenny confirmed its not true :(

Speaking of Kenny, the fact he only put his name up for the managers position -after- the short list was created, told me all i needed to know about how this season would go :(

Lmao, I remember seeing that yesterday and thinking ...

U MAD?
:D

Wouldnt you be like that if you so called World Class Striker missed an easy chance, just like at Spurs.

Then YOur defence gives up a howler just like at spurs.

Fernando Torres deserves a lot more blame then what he is getting if you aks me.

I had resigned myself to Liverpools fate in that match long before Torres missed that chance tbh. Some of our play was lifeless, and at worst plain sloppy.

Only reason I laughed is because I've never seen Roy visibly get worked up like that before since he's been with us.
