Roy Hodgson

Strange timing but ultimately a good decision for Liverpool (damn it...). I should also add that Liverpool might now be the least appealing destination for a manager ever, you would have to be mad to want the job given the fan's stated policy of only supporting FSWs.

I actually like Coyle. Think he's one of the better young managers around. Might not have enough experience for a big job yet but he certainly gets his teams playing good football.

Have to agree about the timing though. United would've been a very tough game a few seasons ago when we were flying but under the current circumstances it's just setting Kenny up for a loss on his first game.

Very strange indeed. I mentioned it in the spoilers thread, Dalglish isn't even in the country at the moment and isn't likely to meet up with the players until either late tonight or tomorrow morning.

The decision should have been taken on Thursday or after the Utd game.

Agree, however he seems a very old school british manager. Can't see him working with Comolli.

Course he doesnt ! He is just another one of those modern glory hunters, just follows the team which wins stuff and has no concept of his supposed teams history. :D

Oi I am not! I am a season ticket holder.

Why I'm commenting is because the fans don't seem to understand that it isn't going to be easy and sacking a manager midway through is not the way forward, Dalgleish is not your Messiah!

:D

I was a fan of Roy but he obviously just didn't click at Liverpool.

Nevertheless, I'm not convinced changing the manager is going to make that much difference, the Liverpool squad is absolutely woeful.

Actually I think fans are fully aware that it isnt going to be easy , I also think they understand that sacking the manager midway isnt going to make a blind bit of difference, we arent going to finish in the top 4 now regardless of who is in charge so sacking the manager doesnt make any difference. The important thing is that the existing manager leaves and rather than rush into an appointment (as we did with Roy) we take several months to really weigh up choices to ensure we make the right appointment this time. Hence the appointment of a caretaker (in which Dalgish is the right choice) for the interim. Dalglish is not supposed to be the messiah, he is supposed to be a holder until a proper appointment, after much deliberation, is appointed. I dont think you are commenting because of that, quite the opposite, I think you are just commenting to try and get a rise out of people to fill a boring morning while you wait for the football to start.

Thanks for your concern but I'll think you'll find that Hodgson has done so bad that even you would have done better.

If he does nothing else, Dalglish will lift the whole club, something which is much needed.

So woeful it finished 7th last season and had 12 players play in the World Cup.

It's not the best squad we've ever had but the people saying it's one of the worst are just looking for more excuses to justify Roys abysmal performance as manager. Perhaps if he played a formation that suited the players we had and football that didn't bypass our midfield he would've done a lot better than he did but that's apparently not his fault :o

Well not a huge surprise that Roy has been given the boot...dont think he was ever suited to Liverpool tbqh and was quite shocked when i heard he was goinbg to manage them this season.

Decent manager but just not good enough to take on Liverpool...maybe Roy should have stayed at Fulham where i think the job suited him ie not that much expectation on his shoulders compared to Liverpool.

Will be interesting to see how Kenny lifts the club up and gets them out of their current woes....a nice start would be for them to spank Utd in FA Cup this weekend. More interested in who Liverpool get as their next manager...

So nothing to do with the players playing so bad? A manager is there to put a squad together but the players still have a job to do on the pitch and haven't performed, as the guys on Soccer Saturday have just said, the players are not good enough and most should hang their head in shame at their performances!

I shall leave you lot to build up false hope and excuse how bad your players are by saying its all the managers fault! ;)

Good day to you lot! :p
