RTX 3050 - starting at $249 (msrp)

why anyone would buy this at double the price, completely absurd price wise, if shipping prices have trippled, why dont all imported trade guys double in price? i dont buy it. (not saying you are lying, but someone in the chain is taking advantage, likely the reseller or whatever).

Shipping is just one of several factors, also everything has increased in price, building materials have doubled in price, cars have increased in price or come with less for same price. You only have to read post from other members on this forum who work for freight companies who have confirmed as such, I believe a container now cost around £10,000 to ship or did peak around that, whereas before the pandemic they were like around £2000, these are not absolute numbers but I know the cost of shipping goods around the world has rocketed, which can be pretty much read and confirmed anywhere on the internet and is one major factor. Of course the board partners have put the prices up too, for part because component prices have increased but also because they have increased their margins as have resellers, which is absolutely normal when demand outweighs supply, otherwise you have nothing to sell.

It is a trick I've discovered with the website to get it to get products to upload instantly which have never been live on the site previously, worked superbly well on the 6500 XT launch. As DDR5 is another thing people are going crazy for it makes sense to plonk it in there especially as we have stock.

I see. Fair enough!

Looks like shipping rates have now dropped significantly....

They are still vastly higher, we airfreight from Asia more or less daily and have an office in Taiwan sourcing cheaper freight all the time, the cost is nowhere near pre pandemic levels, yes shipping cost are not at their highest but the actual component are still increasing from manufacturers and factories.

So even with shipping cost improving, the manufacturers are generally still increasing the cost and shipping rates still have a long way to fall yet to be back where they should be.

Ok thanks for replying Gibbo. Just hope mostly back to normal for nvidia 40-series launch :)

In 2023 maybe, but I just have a feeling we will never see the crazy low prices of before the pandemic again, cost of living has exploded, agreed it would be nice, but not sure it will happen.

Yeah no one should be paying above MSRP for this card judging from the leaked benchmarks.
2022 market has 2022 market prices.
The MSRP price is £239 in the uk which was set by the manufacturer who would have set that price based on current component costs, shipping costs etc so no real reason for it to be retailing much higher than that.

I'd have thought by now people would have learnt..................

We all know the MSRP is essentially meaningless.

Learnt how to be ripped off?

Someone somewhere down the line is being greedy and making a lot more profit than they used to.

If the price of something goes up, it means someone along the line , whether it be in production, manufacturing, shipping, sales has decided they want more money.

Probably £350 on OC tomorrow. Wouldn't surprise me if it settled at 399. Would be shocking value for money.

Can't see it (or at least that price being sustainable after idiots and scalpers have fomo'd).

1660ti/supers are hanging around in stock everywhere for £400-£450 and they actually have decent mining stats.

No way this retains a £400 price tag when it's pants at mining and has the same gaming performance.

Here we go again with people bizarrely expecting this to be sold at MRSP. (Not going to happen).

Now AIB cards have been sold at MRSP in this generation and they are extremely unlikely to be either.

Gibbo has explained a number of reasons why this happens yet people are seemingly unable to listen or understand why.

Nvidia sell the FE cards at MRSP because they decide too, it doesn't mean they are actually making a profit from them. And if they are it doesn't mean everyone else can considering they have to buy certain parts from Nvidia at a mark up where as Nvidia supply themselves.
