They also did it with Turing after the last mining boom because they liked the higher prices. They tried to sell off Pascal stock at minimal price reductions and tried to reset the price upwards and it partially failed. Yet people's emotional belief in these tech companies makes them forget very quickly. Then if one does it the others does so too(Pascal enabled Navi MK1 to get upsold too). So everyone gets screwed over because of their immature Top Trumps mentality.

I'll never forget what a certain retailer tried to do on the 3090's release then got called out for it by a tech youtuber. It's absolutely disgusting behaviour and i hope they never live it down.

Yet enough of PCMR wants to forgive and forget despite this, then cheers when they get screwed over. I told people gamers are just very weak and easily exploitable consumers. Marketing indoctrinates them into making into a Top Trumps battle because they are sold a dream. When consumer advocates were trying to point out the predatory practices in various games, hardware companies, etc you had the uberfans attacking them for the right to be screwed over!

Seen this first hand haha, whether it be on reddit posts or PCMR facebook its always the same idiots or those that leave a laughing react. The Asus group fanboys are the worse by far, it could be a turd with a logo on it and they would still run out to buy it and post saying "I got one!"

NVIDIA are actually in shocking form right now lol.

You can get a Asus TUF 4070 Ti for £900, what is essentially a 4060Ti in all intents and purposes.
They didn't want to let go of mining prices when a 3060ti was going for nearly a grand so they've put up prices and renamed all their tiers hoping that no one would notice.

Does anyone know how the Asus Dual OC version compares to the Gigabyte Windforce OC?

Buy the cheapest, they all perform more or less identical:

Only the 16-pin 12V connector ones *MIGHT* offer slightly better boost clocks but this is also determined by silicon quality is always a total unknow.

I'd personally not spend any extra on an OC model as you can buy a 4070Ti for £799 or a 7900 XT from here for £749.

Wait, the RX7900XT is now cheaper than an RTX4070TI?

Most reviews use the 4070 FE as the baseline and the Asus 4070 Dual OC is about 1-2% better as is the Gigabyte.

There are plenty of reviews on YouTube for both cards, but they all say the same roughly, not much in it, between FE and AIB cards.

In regards to the power connector some cards have max power consumption at 200W regardless whether 12v or 8pin.
Some of the 12v connectors will go up to 240W, though they are at the £700 end of pricing, but some are 215W, though most 200W.

Getting the cheapest card would not see any performance loss over the more expensive, and any gain is minimal. making the extra cost pointless.

Even the Sapphire Nitro has dropped, a lot, £799.99.

Reference model, £749.99.

These are not official drops, this is just me been a bit crazy, make hay whilst the sun shines because if you look at competitors you will see were upto £150 cheaper. :)
I have managed to gain some limited additional support for a small quantity, so these prices may well revert to what you see at competitors as ONLY OcUK is at such low pricing on both 4070 and 7900 XT, yes we are making nothing or even losing but we are nice like that. :)

saw competitor yesterday 7900xt at £750 guess you need to compete :)

whats the reason ? overstock ? demand dropping ? hope it carries on :)

If it was £450 with 16GB ram id buy one.

MLID has had a couple of genuine game developers on talking about this.

In the next couple of years 16GB is going to be the minimum for a mid rage (AAA 1440P) card, game devs have no interest in stagnating their products because of one small segment of their wider revenue, they are competing with eachother, they are no longer worried about a couple of dGPU's stuttering in their games, that's a small fraction of thier target audience and the responsibility for choosing the right hardware for the job is on the consumer.

Yup, the transition to full-blown PS5/SeriesX games is going to seriously flex their hardware to the full inc ram capabilities. Should be interesting!

Exactly, people are far far too entitled, they take zero responsiblity for their own mistakes or shortfalls. If they can find someone else to point the blame at they will, if only just to make themselves feel better. A dev makes a game, if it has high requirements too bad, either do not play it, buy higher performing hardware or make do with what you got. I don't remember entitled kids whining about Crysis being "non optimized", it was a PC BALL BREAKER of a game, go out and ******* upgrade or play at 12 FPS, your call.
