RTX 4070 12GB, is it Worth it?

The demand simply isnt there.

I remember the 3050 at RRP sold out in a few hours last year.

A number of RRP 4070 models have been posted on hotukdeals from 2pm and they are still in stock. With the 3xxx series, they would have been gone in literal minutes if posted on there.

There is an RRP gigabyte model on a competitor site and the stock number has not moved since 2.10pm. They've sold 1.
There's a general backlash against the higher pricing and it seems to be gathering pace with each launch also buyers in and around the mid range 70 class are generally more savvy and are looking to get as much performance as they can for their cash and want to feel like they got value for money rather than feeling conned.

After all the 70 class has usually been the sweet spot for price to performance.

Yeh, and Nvidia did the dirty big time this generation.

The 3070 was already a big price jump for a xx70 series card. It did at least offer the perf of the previous halo card.

This time, not only have they increased the price by over £100, but they have also reduced the performance gain.

The 4070ti card should be the 4070 and it should be for what will be the 4060ti price...

Double whammy of not only increased cost, but decreased performance improvement.

Pretty scummy really.

Mulled it over but decided against ordering in the end. £600 is still a bit more than I really wanted to spend on a card. I'd prefer something nearer the £400 price mark. Plus I'm a little apprehensive about whether 12Gb is enough VRAM going forward. I'd be far more comfortable with 16Gb especially if I'm spending £600 on a GPU.

£1200 4080 if you want nvidia 16gb.

Yeah the 4070ti should have been the 4070 and even then it would have been a below average uplift for a 70 class card similar to a 2070, remember though Nvidia even wanted to go a step further and call it a 4080 12gb and charge £900+ for it such was their delusion after the mining boom.

This gen it appears they have misread the market big time and with every launch they are angering more and more potential customers.

4060 will essentially be 3070 performance? With the same 8GB and perhaps better power draw, for probably the same amount of money the 3070 cost. But with the added bonuses of frame generation.

4050 will probably be a 2D accelerator.

Nvidia & AMD, if you are listening, I have £850 here in my back pocket just waiting to be spent!, All's you have to do is offer me a card with at least 16 gigs ram, offering RTX 4080 performance, and you have a sale!. Let me know when you want the cash!

PS: This has to be in the next 6 months, or I just wait for next generation.

It’s called the 7900xt.

It’s not always as fast as a 4080, but it’s not that far off it either…

Nah, its not a 4080 level card.

It’s not that far off it. You can also buy one for about £400 quid less than a 4080.

7900xt 1440p average : 183
4080 1440p average : 202

That’s pretty damn close.

That works out to about £20 extra per single frame lol. You are a better man than me if you can tell 180 to 200 fps.

Shhhhhhhhhhh, he's praying that Nvidia/AMD reps read this forum every minute of every day and are willing to adjust their heavily-researched pricing stack of millions of cards just to get that *one* sale from the Sgt! Don't take away the guy's dream....

There have long been rumours that Jensen’s jacket tailor has an account on here. Purely for research purposes.

What I will say is this, the 7900xt is much closer in performance to the 4070ti than it is the 4080. However, more ram, and it overclocks really well, which then lets it overtake the 4080!. AMD, drop it to £750 and ill buy one!
