Russell Brand.

Appropriate for the thread. If rolled out to the rest of the UK, I'm assuming programs such as the one on Russell Brand would not be possible?

I don't think it would make a difference

From Thursday, people who are being investigated by the police on suspicion of sexual offences will have their anonymity protected unless they are charged.

Essentially, this means that the police won't name anybody until they're charged, which is normal in the UK for the police - they won't normally name anybody until that point.

With Russell Brand, the victims went to the press and named him after the press published the stories about him, at that point the police weren't investigating him - it was all in the media.

Aside from the common law guidelines regarding contempt of court and making opinions or comments on an active criminal case (nobody seems to be 100% sure whether these apply or not), there's nothing stopping Channel 4 from running a dispatches documentary about the allegations.

Not Brand - but first hand recounting of abuse 80s/90s by Linda Evangelista ,
in which she discusses concerns about coming forwards at the time, and apparently maybe beyond french statute of limitations now
I'd never heard her speak before, surprisingly timid, her ex-husband now has other accusers too.
frankly talks on failed cosmetic surgery too - msg for all

BBC hasn't cancelled the Saville show yet, even though policed looking at new Brand allegations.

Anyone read up on the recent case involving a mlb player called Trevor Bauer? Relevant as the Athletic were printing stories where the accuser was claiming she suffered a fractured skull during the assault but it turns out they had her medical records that showed zero injuries but ran the story anyway.

Why is that relevant?

Didn’t his lawyers find messages on her phone during a subpoena where she went into great detail how she was going to get him to have sex with her very hard and then use the resulting marks and bruises to claim it was rape. Clear honey trap.

The women in the Trevor Bauer case getting was stupid enough to do an interview.
The woman doing the interview woke up and choose violence, she made the liar look like a fool. She goes through the texts that prove it is honey trap.

Yes, it was a stupid metaphor, but it was to emphasise how nuts it is to call a rape victim a "survivor" when the rape is non-violent. It is a word that is over-used by the woke police.

It is, imo, just emotive to call any non-violent victims "survivors" when there was no threat to their actual survival.

They are victims, yes. Of a terrible crime, yes. And people who commit the crime should be locked up forever. But it's ridiculous and woke to call them "survivors". Especially when no crime has been proven.
How on earth did you manage to convey your points before the word 'woke' became popular?

Has there been any more movement on the Brand case? It seems to have gone very quiet after a month.

I suppose we are waiting for the plods to do their stuff.

I will be surprised if there isn't a court case. And I will be surprised if Brand wins.

He just strikes me as overwhelmingly pushy, and that will go down badly with a jury.

It seems really stupid to write a book and then also say on another recorded medium, that essentially you will **** anything that moves.
