The government have made four women fabricate their relations with Brand because he said some positive things about the Donald.

Considering how long Jimmy Savile got away with his behaviour even with accusations flying around can you blame them?
Hislop as always played the game. He's from the same class of people he's poking fun at.
One might assume he's gatekeeping the especially malicious information whilst placating the audience with some middling farce.
It's interesting thst when accusations are from over a decade ago and you question why folks always go with 'whatabout Jimmy saville'.
Saville did his noncing over the entirety of his bbc career, spanning 40 years plus.

If an organisation along with multiple governments knowing the truth for literal decades does nothing with accusations, then what hope does any powerless nobody have in the face of that? It's a wonder they ever speak up at all.
Are you implying that random women would risk huge fines/prison time with only the mere suggestion by the media to get them to speak up? Hardly seems logical does it.

Because possibly, he chose his victims in part for their age and inexperience (16 years old for at least one, and starting out in the industry for others*), and then threatened them with things like court action if they spoke out?
And possibly because even when it's caught on camera and shown live internationally people will still downplay assault and the victims have seen the same comments about cases time and time again?
*A fairly classic predator in the industry tactic that often stops people talking openly for years (something that's been seen in TV, film, radio, publishing, music, medical, political, basically pretty much every professions). It even works for non sexual assault, junior staff are very unlikely to put in a complaint about a senior for most things if they know that senior is likely to be on their performance and evaluation, or promotion boards.
It was the same with Cyril Smith of the Lib Dems. Most people locally knew about him, so did some in the Lib Dems.
Yet the media didn't expose him until he was dead.
The cops never acted either.
