Russell Brand.

If the media did a thorough investigation into some of the prominent gays in the media it would make Brand look like an amateur.

Do you have some info on the prominent gays or are you just assuming that they must behave worse because they are gay ?

Bit of a weird post. Why the random focus on gay people lol ?

Who exactly are you on about? and what evidence do you have that makes you confident it makes the allegations against Brand (one of which is rape) seem amateur?

Can get awkward though. At times I’ve had women take a little flirt or smile too far and seen it as something more than some fun. A couple of times very much too far. I usually reframe from flirting.

You say as though it's a problem?! ;)

(just kidding before people lose their minds).

I guess as an adult you just have to set a boundary and push the stop button if it goes too far. I think there's a good fine line between fun flirting and "wanting more"... it's quite a difficult one to navigate I suppose.

I can understand why you'd refrain from it, but it's my normal behaviour - I do it with everyone, maybe I'm sick. :(

Having spent 22 years working in a certain section of the media I can assure you the "gay scene" in tv especially is wildly promiscuous and has been since the 70's.

I think it's normal for a lot of healthy adult men, unfortunately there's another group of men who are afraid to make eye contact with a woman who wish men like you didn't exist.

I don't think anyone had a problem with people being promiscuous?? Everyone knew that about Brand anyway, and he won a couple of "shagger of the year" awards.

To make these allegations about Brand seem amateurish, it would have to be a bit more than that.

The problem is that this issues is conflating several things.

Sexual assault, consent, morality, and legality.

They are individual aspects and if he didn't rape and had consent then as morally reprehensible we/you may think it is, it doesn't make it illegal.

We do have a responsibility to protect minors, but I'm also genuinely worried about punitive laws being put forward which kills normal human interaction too.

In fairness, I think she allows things up to a point then Brand takes it too far and the host face palms in a FFS manner towards Brand - in work so no sound. The hand behind back isn't under force - being overly handy as she gets up is where Brand is taking it too far.

Not a fan of Brand by any stretch but I think this is a case of throwing poop and seeing what sticks. Media, as per these days, loosing any grip of reality when it comes to the story itself and the accused being dump by anyone with even a minor working relationship with them.

I'm not suggesting its sexual assault or anything like that. You are right, she played along when he had her arm behind her back, realised she'd made a mistake and got herself out of it. Its just amazing how Roar sees it as her being bang up for it. The guy just can't read human reactions at all. Its actually quite concerning.

Punitive laws seem inevitable when it takes quite a bit of effort to avoid being reminded every day how viscerally evil people are through word of mouth, rags, broadcasters and ironically the likes of Brand's reactionary content.

Yes the media doesn't help nor do the echo chambers of social media unfortunately. They just create more "cult" following unfortunately.

I fear you're right.

Well that was inevitable.... Even if he HAS done nothing illegal, the only way to keep this scandal going was to make a complaint to the police. If it had gone on any longer without an officially raised police complaint, it would have started to lose momentum and/or be doubted even more.

There was never any version of this scandal that didn't result in a complaint to the police, whether he has done anything illegal or not.

Didn’t you know? Media Gay’s = automatic sex pests.

Sounds like you have all woman all figured out. You must be the first man in history to achieve this.

I'm not sure which accusation that is. The previous accusations, including the rape, were between 2006 to 2013? If this is from 2003 then I think it's a new accusation?

Bonkers how the overwhelming majority of people who have one night stands manage to not get accused of rape then…
Surely there's anonymity there?

By this I mean you can't really compare a promiscuous world known celebrity to someone hooking up with someone on a night out and not even remembering their name.

And you don't hear about an overwhelming majority of cases because they aren't people in the public eye.

Not sure why you didn't see the difference.

The one thing I have no time for trial by media. It skews everything. I want the facts as they come up. Then, I can choose for myself what my position is. I don't want or need someone's opinion, trying to inform me of how I should feel, unfortunately this thread, the media, the press will have already done that.

That said I think all these cases should be investigated but not immediately assume guilt but it's hard to do that nowadays.
