Russian airliner missing over Egypt

I'm struggling to think of an air-disaster in my lifetime where a plane disintegrated mid-flight and a bomb or missile wasn't involved. Hope I'm wrong but I have a nasty feeling this could be a mass-murder after all :(

Perhaps you should think harder then as there are, often as a result of repair work in the distant past. There was a Japan airlines flight, an Air China 747 and a few others too.

Article just updated on BBC says the co-pilots widow has said her husband had been complaining about the technical condition of the aircraft.

Do pilots not have the power to ground an aircraft if they are not happy about something? Maybe not in Russia though..

Wow, the airline spokeswoman the other day was quick to say their aircraft were in perfect condition.

Tbh though how many of us complain about issues to our partners that aren't really a real quality issue?

And given she won't have any technical understanding how capable is she to understand the severity of anything he complained about

Yeah he's misread a DM article yet again, and taken 'it could have been a bomb' as 'its likely to be a bomb'.

I mean bomb/missile or catastrophic failure doesn't exactly leave a lot else does it....

Typical trash reporting. It's like when they say somebody was arrested with a bag of white powder which may be cocaine. It may be flour. Doesn't matter, already your brain has associated the fact that person has been arrested with cocaine.

ISIS are apparently claiming responsibility for this now.

Publicity stunt on their part, or a realistic likelihood of them being the cause?

Either way, it seems a bit daft of them to claim they did it regardless - or would it help their cause more than hurt it? Not sure I can follow backwards-retarded fundamentalist logic.

I had thought this would simply be due to a "normal" crash. But it is looking more like IS may have been involved. The three big clues are:

* Pictures of the wreckage with damage showing an outward decompression.
* IS claiming responsibility could be opportunistic but it would be quickly evident and embarrassing for their propaganda machine if it is proved to be a normal crash. Bringing down a Russian plane flying out of Egypt helps destabilise another nearby countries tourism while hitting back at Russia. For them it's a perfect target.
* Other airlines very quickly diverted their flights indicating they may know something not publicly announced.

I hope I'm wrong because Russia will not idly stand by like we would. They would seek revenge and more innocent people would get hurt along with IS.
