Russian SU-24 - Shot Down by Turkey

Something does not add up here?

Say the jet was going slow at 500mph, that part of Turkey is about 2 miles wide.

How can you issue 10 warnings in 15 seconds! At that speed you would cover
2 miles in about 15 seconds.

Hope this is not the most expensive 15 seconds in history. :(

See? Easy!

15.6 seconds at 300mph, but we've established thats not the bit it happened in.

Unless turkeys version of "warning" is the beep from missile lock on? I'm sure that's pulse more than once a second and leave 5 seconds free for actual missile travel time

BREAKING: The Russian Defence Ministry has suspended military contact with Turkey over the downing of the jet, Russian news agencies are reporting.

A Russian warship will be deployed to waters off Syria's western Latakia province.

Has it occurred to you that they may have warned before the territory was entered?

"you are approaching our airspace, please identify"

"identify or upon entering you will be fired upon"

Where do the thousands of oil trucks go from IS territory? Hmm. Yeah, it's Turkey.

Turkey is funding IS because it helps them keep down the kurds. It also leaves it's border crossings with Syria undefended allowing fighters to cross.

Spot on - also the Kurds are fighting ISIS, see what the Turks did to the Kurds in Kobani? Revolting.

No fan of the Russians antics over the last couple years to put it mildly but this seems a senseless escalation. Their territory was violated for the briefest of moments where they crossed that small dogleg of land that juts down into northern Syria.
The Russians shouldn't have done it, but could have been simple error and they ignored Turkish warnings as they knew they were within spitting distance of the border. Seen pics of those su planes with off the shelf GPS! Perhaps the pilot simply didn't know or they thought they'd get away with a short incursion.

Turks had to know by the time the missile hit the plane would have been back over Syria.

Whole thing is a horrible mess.

Turkey is funding ISIS actively and what's more it goes right up to official level. Journalists have found this out. ISIS sell vast quantities of oil or trade oil for weapons.

Journalists have found this out and been killed by Turkish or somewhat likely American agents because they are uncovering the truth about how ISIS are being paid. It's a combination of direct and indirect funds from Turkey and of course the same from the US government
