Russian SU-24 - Shot Down by Turkey

Hurrr gotta shoot down that plane 1 mile in my country hurrr. It would never be doing anything grossly naughty against Turkey (i.e. firing weapons at it) so can't really see the justification!

Then again, I suppose I know very little about it.

Can't believe people are sidding with Turkey on this. Killing someone just because they fly over your land for few seconds it's just stupid. I guess those of you who agree with this action would shoot people walking over your front garden without hesitation.

I can see why they're upset about Russians entering their airspace but you just don't kill some poor guy doing his job because you don't like it.

Lol. So a soldier from another country invades yours but you don't defend yourself because 'hey, he's just doing his job!'.

That has to be one of the most idiotic statements I've ever heard on here.

Because flying an armed warplane engaged in military action over another countries sovereign territory without permission when the two countries have been antagonistic to each other for 60 years, and given at least one of the countries recent history of "accidentally" invading a neighbour country is exactly like walking across someone lawn.

Russian plane didn't enter Turkey's airspace, in fact Turkey violated Syrian airspace and shot it down. If found to be true then that adds an entirely different twist to the story.

English subs are available.

I'm inclined to believe the Russian military video above, it's not like they have a history of making it up as they go along, just like they had no military forces engaged in Ukraine, honest, it was all western propaganda..

Lol. And those Korean air flights I linked to earlier were f-15's. And Georgia started it!

In this day and age of technology, how can someone not have actual proof/evidence of exactly where this plane travelled by now?

That video is from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
General Staff is currently being worked out additional measures to ensure the security of the Russian air base.

First: All actions strike aircraft will be carried out only under cover of fighter planes.

Second, measures will be taken to strengthen the defense. To this end, the cruiser "Moskva", equipped with air defense system "Fort", similar to the C-300 will take part in the coastal region of Latakia. You are cautioned that any targets, representing a potential danger for us will be destroyed.

Third: Contacts with Turkey on military lines will be discontinued. "

The sad thing is they'd get so much further with "It looks like an inexperienced pilot ****** up and flew over Turkish territory, something we absolutely do not approve of. Having said that unfortunately the Turkish Air Force, perhaps also due to inexperience, or over eagerness to be aggressive, decided to shoot to kill rather than give the benefit of the doubt to the unfortunate young Russian pilot. Whilst we respect Turkeys right to defend itself we feel in this case it constituted an unnecessarily and irresponsible act which any right thinking country would condemn. We can but hope this tragic incident will be the catalyst for better military cooperation and communications between the nations of the world standing against ISIL.
