True, although i can't see russia taking to things like that kindly, although i suppose shooting them on the ground wouldn't have been much better.

This isn't the first incident between the two countries in recent times.
Looking at the published radar traces, it looks like it could have played out something along the lines of several warnings that they were near to Turkish airspace and would be shot down if they entered. Plane enters airspace, further warnings given. Plane enters airspace a 2nd time and missiles are fired and down the aircraft but due to speed/location the Russian plane ends up going down in Syria.

No worse than the Wests persistent use of drone strikes when even the yanks admit that 90% of the time the people killed in drone airstrikes were not the intended targets!!
War is a horrific, dirty and indiscriminate act, hence why it should be avoided at all cost.

Lets hope that this spurs Vlad to do a spot of light impaling in respect of those Turks. Arm the Kurds train the Kurds have trainers with the Kurds. I just love those female Kurdish fighting groups - the Isis just love death at the hands of a woman!! But one must worry there aint goin to be enough virgins for all them fanatics when they arrive in their heaven - worrying aint it?
