Rust - multiplayer survival from the creator of Garry's Mod

I've got over 1000 hours on Rust playing solo, so it's certainly possible. I've even managed to bring down large clans single handed on some servers. You just need a different playing style.

Saying that I haven't played it in over a year, has much changed? Think I still prefer the old version tbh.

big clans or groups are sometimes if not well organished a hinderance as people pauses to shoot incase its one of their friends or group.thats when one or two together can really do well.

we been raiding groups over the last few nights epic fun.:D

patch today aswell.

P2 roaming squad meta!

Seriously, I don't get the hate for the SAP on reddit. Before you either didn't roam or you went around with AK's with a big group.

Now you get solo SAP plays. Yet all they complain about is not being able to one shot geared with a spear...

Any tips on getting started...in terms of enjoying it I mean? I've tried twice to get in to it and I didnt like the setting and was just surround in half finished/ugly buildings! Chopped some wood and came across a guy who shot me dead.

Join a very low populated server, or empty. Learn the mechanics watch a yourube video or two, check the steam community. Just learn to build and how the game works. Playing with a friends or join a group helps too

My friend bought it last week, he's obsessed now.
My tips:
Make a map.
Search for streams to drink from.
Eat everything you can find from boxes and mushrooms.
Craft basic hatchet and pick axe.
Gather hemp.
Gather about 2000 stone and wood.
Make a bow and 10 arrows ASAP.
Check the map for roads and rad towns.
Build a 2 high 1x1 close but hidden from a rad town and other bases if possible.
Make a door and lock (I only lock it when I'm inside, keep a key in a chest in the base).
Place tool cupboard, sleeping bag and chests.
Hunt animals for food and fat.
Craft a furnace or two.
Cook 100 metal fragments (search on how to do it quicker).
Make code lock.
Cook 150 more.
Make Sheet metal door.
(This bit is terrifing on larger pop servers!) Take off key lock, open wood door, pick up wood door, place sheet metal door and put the code lock on, enter code and relax!
Later add a triangle foundation in front of your front door and seal one side up with stone and then add another sheet metal door and code lock. Now you won't loose all your stuff if someone kills you when you open the door.
Mark your location on your map (I do a biggish circle so not to show exactly where my base is if I'm killed).
Get components for crafting from loot piles.

That's my order every wipe

remember Rust is one of the hardest games you can ever play, you will be punished for every dam mistake you make, I have just shy of a 1000hrs and I'm still learning and the game is constantly evolving. Stick with it and remember everyone gets raided and killed, everyone. Don't get attached to your loot or base. Try and be a friendly neighbour, watch there bases and perhaps they will do like wise, I like to earn there trust by offering food or the odd component.

Enjoy!

removed our server and now our lot are just playing on a big vanilla server. wipe other day so all go.about 12 of us most nights.

currently playing on a 70 man server you may have to cue up

UK Rust Midlands - Noob Friendly

https://rust-servers.net/server/100436/

Don't bother with this server, admins are a bunch of liars and get salty when caught out on their cheating antics.

Don't bother raiding my base, de-spawned 130 rockets and countless guns/ammo.

A certain mod tried to claim the reason he had godmode on was because it was a mistake... whilst he was looting his dead body... in front of my auto turret that is on. Tried to appease us by giving us ammo to replace the ammo the turret wasted.

What did the rest of the admins/mods do? Oh that's right, told us to shut up/drop it.

I guess that just confirms the negative steam discussions and other players leaving due to the highly surgical raids (straight to tc's and loot rooms).

Onwards and upwards to the next server, next patch. :>

Contact Facepunch, you could get there server removed

Well the last couple of days I have to say 'I get it'. First time in a very long time my heart has really been racing in a game.

Been playing solo, and getting any sort of foothold in a server close to wipe has been super hard. But I've finally skied with neighbours, got some gear and killed some people. Feels like such an achievement learning the system and making progress in a difficult environment.

Great game, and the Devs attitude really is impressive. I also love the concept of a wipe system, and prefer the current idea to the blueprint system.

Great stuff, get ready for 'wipe day' as soon as the update drops and servers wipe, absolutely mental! People running around everywhere farming and trying to get started and established as quick as possible, my advice, get a flamethrower made and lots of LGF, there is going to lots of wooden doors and wooden starter shacks with metal and sulfar ready for the taking

Awesome, thanks for the tip. I'm far too nice in the game at the minute ;)

Want to raid some bases but not sure how to go about it solo, looks like the easiest way might be 8 satchel charges, but that's a lot of bean cans!

will be playing again in a couple of days waiting for the next wipe.then come join us on ts3 wanton.will be joining a official server.

Might have to give that 400 slot Rustafied server a go... 400 SLOTS!!!

Weekly wipe, next one is on the 2nd of Feb after the next game update

yes our lot just left that server after we spent last month dominating server then one night all our armoured bases raided one go by admins.my base alone would have needed 50 plus c4.never minded the rest of our bases.

thats why will go official server next for no admin abuse posibility.if someone knows of a good busy one maybe we all join up in a big group.
