Rx480 prices.... mining?

So tempting to put my rx480 strix up for sale if the 400+ pounds was achievable.. i tried mining zcash with it and it managed around 330h/s without overclocking which seems fairly good from the info ive read.

I really don't get why people pay so much for the RX series when GTX 1060 can do 80% of the hashrate at 50% of the power and 50% of the cost.
I'm running 6 x 1060 and they're doing 23MH/s at 60% TDP. Oh and all 6 of them together are running quieter than one reference RX 480 whilst also staying cooler.

People are really not understanding why the RX cards are going for more than 1060/70/80.

Everyone is mining Ethereum. That's why. That's where the huge spike in value is. The RX cards are simply better, at lower power, for mining Ethereum. Simple. It's not "bitcoins" people are mining. Sure you can mine something else with a Nvidia card better than an RX. But what you mine will be worth 100x less than Ethereum. (At the moment)

Really.?
Cheapest GTX 1060's are doing 23MH/s of Ethereum mining at 60% TDP which is what 70W from the wall.? Now do your math.
RX series is better if you want to maximise hashrate per motherboard.

Nice setup you've got there. Easier to keep things nice and reliable for 24/7 running when the cards generate such little heat.

Looks like that'll change soon when Nvidia release their mining specific driver.

Good to see the 3Gb cards doing 23MH/s, good result, is that stock? You tried an OC or custom bios?

We sold a lot of these EVGA cards in last 48hr, a few hundred.

But the king seller has being the Asus 6G which is slightly quicker again due to more cuda cores, we sold over 1000 of those in last 48 hours.

Great for business and also plenty of gamers bagged themselves a good bargain too, so everyone is happy.

1060 prices are now exploding as shortage kicks in. :(

Scientists say humans are evolved form monkeys but given that humans all have pack mentatlity I would say there has to be some canine in there as well.

This all reminds of the booming 20's just before the big stock market crash took place which caused the great depression. Every man and his dog was buying into the stock market because it was seen as a fall prove way of making a fortune unfortunately stocks were overvalued and inexperienced buyers ended up losing everything. Again there are those who follow the pack and those who lead it and then there jackals like myself just waiting in the wings for this whole show to collapse.

That's with power limit set to 60% at which point the card downclocks but with memory overclocked to max stable. Core speed doesn't make that much difference but memory definitely does.
Didn't have much time to try to optimise everything yet but certainly will.
Didn't hear about custom 1060 bios for mining.

Wonder if it'll work with normal 1060's but knowing Nvidia probably not.
I would expect they will. I assume the mining cards are using the standard drivers at the moment.

If Nvidia block their use there'll plenty of people kicking off about it by the looks of it :D
Also I'm sure some enterprising person will hack the drivers to make them work :D

Interesting, so do you mine as part of an eth pool or solo? I don't know much about this all but curious really.

Wondering if I could buy a 1070 and pay it off. But prices seem to fluctuate like crazy, in theory you can pay it off in few months... but a lot happens in a month when it comes to cryptos :D
