RYZEN 3000 - THOSE STRUGGLING TO FIND, LOOK HERE!

Hi. Any updates on more deliveries of the 3900X please? Not sure if the order for 50x arrived as expected, but the CPU's still showing as pre-order. Thanks.

I have just ordered a 3600 to keep me going for the meantime. I may hang on for the 4th gen 16 core. I would like to try that Thermal grizzly carbonaut carbon thermal pad however under it - there is no stock however.

sorry guys. I have now had two 3600 - just couldn't resist at that price for that performance. Enough to make one 3900x. So far I have managed to get a x570 aorus pro (as I plan to get the 16 core 4th gen) but could not get the X570 itx - and so settled on a b450 gigabyte ITX that works fine (not planning on upgrading the cpu).

I am wondering if there is so much of a shortage for the 12 core then why are AMD rumoured to release the 16 core at the end of the month!

Because they’re probably holding a lot of the better binned chiplets back for the 3950X.

They just haven't got enough of the top binners to go round.

personally I think that they should satisfy the demand for the 12 core before moving onto the 16 core. I imagine that there will be a large demand for the 16 core and that will go into short supply too. Then there will be a limited supply of both.

Supply and demand, OC UK are one of the few people with UK stock so can charge what they want really. the only other place I can find stock is charging £685.60 and they don't have many.

No wonder why the 3950x and TR2 got delayed

Yes absolutely, not an OC UK problem. I'd do the same as a business owner. It's silly it has gone this way. Supply is so low the smallest of demand will cause this issue.

I grabbed a 2600 at a good price and most likely will update to the 3600 next year. :)
I like the performance of the 3600 a lot. I bought one for a SFF (as it low power for fantastic performance) and really is overkill (but the case can only handle a small cpu cooler so that may hold it back in the minority of instances). I used a 1st gen spire (copper plug, taller heat sink) from a 1700 instead of the 2nd gen stealth (faster fan speed to compensate)

The other 3600 that I bought was a stop gap until the 16 core comes out. As I have bought a decent x570 I may as well put a 16 core in there even though I don't need too (will probably wait for the 4th gen or even a 5th gen if they are still using the am4). The 3600 in my x570 desktop has so much more performance than my other quad and octacore pc's - despite 3600 being a low tier cpu. As this is in a desktop then I have a reasonable cooler that should help it play games - turn times in warhammer2 mortal empires just fly.

I suspect that even the 3600 is totally overkill for playing games even turn based games that require computational power like Warhammer 2 turns. does anyone know - will Warhammer 2 be able to use all 12 threads from the 3600 (I suspect not)?

£589? What a joke
yes

that's more expensive than the 9900k - deservedly so though. The price difference between two 3600 and one 3900x is quite large. It shows what good value a 3600 is - but even that is creeping up in price at the moment.

If I was building a gaming rig, I would deffo go for the 3600 over the 3900. Saves you nearly £400 that you could put towards a much better graphics card.

Video editing mainly. My PC is way overpowered for what I really need though I have to admit.

lol 'overpowered' - just switched to a 3700x and i like to do some video encoding. Tried that out on the 3700x for the first time last night and couldn't believe how fast it chewed through the encode ;) Curious how much faster the 3900x is in practice but very happy with the 3700x.

ps, and yes, i suspect video encoding software could make use of 24 threads is it? or certainly a lot of them. Video encoder was fully using all 8 threads (cpu at about 100%) on the 3700x.
