When 480p benchmarks?
Seen it as cheap as under £300. Was really tempted, but figured I'd rather just do a full upgrade.
May end up going that route anyway if I see it particularly cheap since this stock situation was a total bust and I'm not hopeful that the 7800 is going to be any better.
Meh.... when AMD launched the 5800X3D people were crying there is no 16 core version, what if i need the cores and want to play games? People cried, and they are not wrong.AMD really messed up here with 7900x3d
Yeah basically the same.I’d have bought the 7950 @ 699 if I could. But waiting another months for it….then the 7800 is available but probably unavailable makes me think is this worth it.
To be fair the 7950X3D does make sense as the best for everything. It's only the 7900X3D which is in a bit of a weird no mans land of not being the best for gaming, or the best for productivity but still being quite expensive.Meh.... when AMD launched the 5800X3D people were crying there is no 16 core version, what if i need the cores and want to play games? This time AMD covered all bases, now some reviewers are crying its stupid, should have just stuck with the 7800X3D, to me all that shows is how out of touch some tech journalists are with their audience.
No, no, I get that. What I am saying, they messed up by not providing review samples to reviewers.Meh.... when AMD launched the 5800X3D people were crying there is no 16 core version, what if i need the cores and want to play games? People cried, and they are not wrong.

People are not gonna buy an unknown.
Here's one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0r7BuxrzN0Just sent a cancellation request for my 7900x3d for an extra £80 I can get the 7950 or grab the 7800x3d in April if I can't grab the 7950
The lack of any kind of review worries me

Tech power up have all cores at over 5ghz up until you load 30 threads or so here: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-9-7950x3d/27.html
The 5.25ghz on the v cache CCD is the freq max set by AMD, not all chips will hit that. It's gonna depend on cooling, motherboard/vrm etc just like any other chips. But saying it is limited to 5ghz is just wrong, that's not what the freq max is set to.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's particularly bad or anything. It's just feels like it lacks an identity compared to the other two.The 7900X3D has a lot of cache to work with and it’s big strength.

Everyone has different needsI dont see the need for these 7000 series X3d chips when you can get the 5800X3D for about £280 with far lower platform costs.
Works great even with my 4090.

30-40% performance gain with better power efficiency.
unfortunately that doesn't apply since L3 cache of different CCD can't be accessed. So most a game thread will have fast access to is still 96MB. Theoretically the other CCD with 32MB would keep all the background apps, but that is a very small effect.application (I include games) that fits within the 140mb of the 7900X3D but not the 96mb of the 7800X3D then the 7900X3D will offer better performance.
