Skeptical but they have been OK?
Maybe your skepticism shouldn't be broadcast... or rephrased as something akin to "I have had no problems with them".
MSI shouldn't be preached right now IMO that's for sure.
The taichi ticks a lot of boxes in both its forms.

I had plenty of problems with Asrock boards back in the early 2000's (back then they had a bad rep anyway), thats why I never buy an expensive board from them and only for cheap builds. Like if I am buiding a system for a customer on a budget. I wouldnt put an Asrock board in my main system.

Just out of interest, what version of Windows are you running?

It might not be related, but if it's Win11, there are some reports out there that April updates for Windows 11 have brought some performance issues to certain games.

If Royal mail deliver my thermal paste today, I can get round to doing the 7800X3D install.

I might partition my drive and make it a dual boot os drive to help run benchmarks and get some test results. Or just have one HDD as win 10 and one for win 11. Haven't decided. Not sure if windows likes partitions for different os installs.
Running latest version of Windows 11.

Does anyone know how a USB 3.0 2.5GB ethernet adapter (plugged into the back of the mobo) performs versus an PCIE add-in card solution or built-in ethernet on a motherboard? If I did go ahead with the B650E-E and had issues, it should be a neat solution in theory, but I've never used one before.

I havent used one yet to be fair.
Got the 650 taichi for this build and am impressed with the specs, hope its hassle free.
Always been a fan of the high end ASUS boards in the past.
Build quality of the taichi is top notch

I got one of those and it works fine on everything I tried it even iPad Pro.
I think I paid £18 for it about 2 years ago.

I don't use it much but when I do It works just fine.

No post today. I know I said I had to be patient.. but having a 7800X3D staring at me is such a temptation to want to place a new thermal paste order for DPD next day. Sods law if I did that the post will be delivered tomorrow.

Thanks. I'm so indecisive I don't know what to do, lol. My ASUS B650E-E arrives today. I either refuse delivery to make getting a refund easier, or keep it and wait for the 7800X3D to arrive, which could be weeks. I also paid 'only' £305 for it, so it's a great price. Decision decisions.

So far I had zero issues with ethernet on my B650E-E and I have it connected with 20m flat cable to Zyxel 2.5Gb switch.

Same, I got the x670e-f for £351, but I am not too worried about the LAN issue. I connect my PC to the router via a 1Gb switch and also the router is close to my PC, so I can get a full wifi 6E signal.

I think I'm mostly at ease with the ethernet situation now.... But I'm also getting myself into a tizz by reading about all the issues with AM5 (instability, slow boot times, RAM OC not working), even if they are improving week by week with BIOS updates. There seems to be no common theme, it just doesn't work well for some people, even with the same CPU, mobo and RAM configurations. And I'm not convinced an early AM5 motherboard will support Zen 6 hassle free. AMD's commitment to future CPU compatibility has always been great on paper but iffy in reality. Anyway, I'm just rambling absolute nonsense at this point, apologies!

My AM5 system has been giving me issues, slow boot, no boot, high temps. Turned out to be an bad 7950x3D, dropped a normal 7950x in there and had zero problems since (touch wood).

For me slow boot time was fixed by enabling one option in the bios and whining cpu cooler fan stopped doing that horrible noise on it’s own somehow.
What’s disappointing is that games that stuttered on my previous system still stutter.
Yes the frame rate went up but stuttering didn’t go away.
Also disappointed with the front panel usb c only delivering 10W.

A question for the guys who have theirs already (or are already on AM4/5) - I noticed in HWMonitor and Afterburner that the APU is showing up as a device even though I expect it to be disabled given I have a GPU plugged in... should I disable this in bios? It's set to 'auto' initialisation which as far as I'm aware should disable the onboard gpu once it detects the actual GPU... is this a bug or is it just inactive? I noticed in HWMonitor it's showing as having ram allocated too, but not sure how accurate this is, first time on the AMD side for a long time so not sure if normal or an issue! 7800X3D for reference :) .

Yeah I think it will be active until you disable it in bios. Is it also showing up in windows device manager.?

Used the bios flash feature on a new motherboard! Abit nerve wracking as never done it before and didnt have any cpu/ram/display but it all the lights flashed that were meant to. Put it back in its box for 3 weeks while i wait for the 7800X3D to arrive :D

Any reason for disabling it? Reducing power draw I guess.
No RAM allocation for a GPU i'll never use, reduced power draw (and heat), and removing any other potential issues with games/apps knowing I have >1 gpu installed. In theory as well you may reach higher clocks/performance with a combination of the above items too.
