Will you be purchasing the 7800X3D on the 6th?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 7800x3D with the MSI B650 CARBON Mobo - have any of you tried the MSI Enhanced Mode Boost? https://www.techpowerup.com/306881/...7800x3d-and-msi-exclusive-enhanced-mode-boost It supposedly boosts it ~10% which is enough to sway me to MSI for the motherboard
From what I gather that's just PBO presets which I believe appear on most boards - I enabled PBO last night on my ASUS TUF X670E-PLUS WIFI, but haven't played around with the profiles yet, there are a few different profiles provided with this motherboard also (from what I remember it's pretty common so I'd be surprised to find a board without it but you never know).

Speaking of, I was a bit nervous of having RAM issues given it's not on the QVL list, but G.Skill Trident 6000Mhz CL30 runs fine without issues on EXPO1!

So today started having issue where my mouse would skip every now and then so I rebooted PC just to find out that it wouldn't post for a while.
It was sitting displaying nothing on the screen with red light on the board and code 15 on the post code display.
Had to force power it off and it booted with boot failure warning on the screen.
After going to bios and saving settings all is good now.
That's the kind of issues I had when I started using AM4 platform but eventually it was all fixed after many bios updates.

I haven't had any issues with OCing the RAM, CPU or changin BIOS's or tweaking settings on my Asus ROG Strix B670E-F
Glad to hear it. Many people have and still are. It appears to be completely random which is my main issue. You can buy a solid mobo with supposedly supported ram and have major issues with stability and enabling EXPO. I don’t have the time or patience for that. For 2.5 years my AM4 5900X build has been solid with not a single issue. That’s what i’m looking to replace. Thankfully I game at 4K with a 4090 so I’m not missing out on too much, but I was prepared to upgrade.

Which kit do you have? Can you post the the product code and can you if it`s Hynix or Samsung Dies?

It sends the CPU temps up. I used Enhanced Mode Boost 3, the highest one, and ran Cinebench R23 and got 18,750 points multicore, but the temps went into the red, over 80c.

I just use Memore Context Restore and High Efficiency Mode and all my cores hit 5Ghz now.

Purchased from a well-known auction site, labelled as 'G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 32GB 6000MHz CL30 DDR5 Memory - AMD Expo' :)

Thanks for that, i thought it might have been that kit. I was also looking at another G.Skill kit kit that is XMP but runs at 1.25v, also 6000Mhz. Apparently you can run XMP kits fine in AMD boards but I'd like to make sure before i thought about buying it but as it's cheaper than the expo kits it might be worth a punt.

Here's my 7950X3D for a comparison at the same spot.

The Last of Us Part I | 7950X3D Stock + Both CCDs + SMT Enabled + 4090 Stock

I also simulated a 7800X3D at the same area too.

The Last of Us Part I | 7950X3D Stock + Cache CCD Only + SMT Enabled + 4090 Stock

Although I have seen higher power draw in other CPU heavy games, the CPU temperature is the highest I've seen of any game so far for the 7950X3D, usually it's a lot lower.

CPU power draw was 85-90W, CPU temp was 75c-81c.

The workload was pinned to the cache CCD according to Task Manager and Ryzen Master Tool with both CCDs enabled.

I'm having serious problems with this game though. I have no sound at all (or any of my devices) since the last patch, so won't be playing it again until it gets fixed.
Sadly I'm still not able to get sound in the game, so I got a little further in to test that area you mentioned.
That’s the thing everyone tells me it runs fine for them but no one want to show me their frametime graph from that spot.

It still runs fine for me btw.

I couldn't reproduce any stuttering, one of the smoothest games I've played in recent times tbh. Frame time graph at 100ms as requested too.

I've not had a problem with the game, only that I wish I playing it with a 4090 :)

It’s about 20-25% faster on my 4090 Vs the XTX so definitely one of the wider performance differences I see in games with both GPUs tuned.
