Poronix has by far the most extensive productivity review suit i have ever seen.

Its a very mixed bag, on one page you see significant margins to the 13900K and you think yeah its clearly better, but then you turn the page and its the other way round...

I think all we can say is they are different.

It's common knowledge that intel is much better at at or mixed usage tasks both in speed and efficiency.

But phoenix doesn't have pOwer consumption on each individual test.

As I've said, the reviews are out there, you just don't want to accept them. I already cited 2 of them. I can make it 5 or 10, still it won't change your beliefs cause at this point it's a religion. Intel is in fact much faster and more efficient at ST and mixed workloads.
 
I mean that benchmark set from Poronix shows exactly what was being discussed though, things that are single core intensive are better on Intel, multicore rendering AMD, things in between generally Intel and sometimes by a solid margin.

What should be noted as shown though is that efficiency is not always on Intels side as although the do generally beat out AMD on those mixed used elements they also have power consumption to suit. Something like doing the SVT-VP9 encoder where Intel is faster but it max consumption is 300w compared to AMD at 200w. RawTherapee gives another one, although time was close the power consumption was also this time and certainly corrilates that Intel in such workloads is on average about the same efficiency as AMD but you need to trade power drawn to performance in terms of speed/FPS achieved.

This goes back to if you look at the price to performance then well they also pretty much sit at 1:1 to each other right now and x3D isn't going to do a lot with that because the price is higher even with the performance gained.

The info noted is here though to show point that on average with that it is very much performance better, wattage higher and you can go read all the power consumption for all 333 benchmarks as they are linked in the article.

While the Core i9 13900K was often competing with the Ryzen 9 7950X, where it seriously struggled was in the power consumption and efficiency. Across the entire span of benchmarks carried out, the Core i9 13900K had an average of 158 Watts and a peak recording of 318 Watt power consumption. Meanwhile the Ryzen 9 7950X over the same benchmarks had a 128 Watt average and a peak of 247 Watts.

Don’t want to get off topic but are their anymore being intel CPUs being released on z690? Part of the attraction for me going for the 7950x3D on AM5 is that there is a couple more cpu upgrades planned at least.

Yeah, whatever, can you show me one slide that a 7950x does better in performance and efficiency in st compared to a 13900k?

Well good luck convincing humbug about it. I mean his link proves my point but he will reject phoronix now, even though he is the one that quoted it in the first place :D

It's not the best. On the high end (7900x / 7950x) for heavy multithreading zen 4 is better than Intel. ST / mixed workloads intel is better. On the low end - imo at least, it's a massacre, amd needs to up their core counts.
