S2000 owners thread. 9,000rpm of goodness in here.

I think I'll go with the Miltek or Revel Touring exhaust. They both seem like top options for a subtle yet effective approach

Where would be the best place to buy either?

I have a revel medallion touring and it’s an awesome system, miltek for me would be a bit too tame. Maybe as an oem replacement with some extra “character”

Oh maybe I'm mistaken, I kept reading that the Revel was very subtle Vs the Miltek. I want something that I notice, but isn't too much if that makes sense. Would hate to spend over £1k and barely notice it

One thing is the tips though, I do like the OEM Ovals

miltek ovals look really good, they're bigger than oem and fill the bumper holes perfect. It's a nicely made system but very "subtle" in my opinion.

is the OG medalion touring, 95db on noise test with a decat, inside there's no drone and the quality of the system is great. Outside it makes a good noise but inside, windows up on the mway etc it's very quiet all in. Opens up when you rev it out of course.

I do think I'll go Miltek. I love the sound of the Revel posted above but might be a touch loud for me, not sure.

As long as the Miltek provides a nice tone over stock, and I notice the difference, then I'll be happy. Tempted to pull the trigger today

Messaged WBperformance about the Miltek. Looks in-stock on the site but apparently not :(

"I don’t have them in stock these days – but order them in when I need them, they were “kind” of exclusive to me and I used to get them made up in batches of 10 at a time. But Milltek re-introduced them into the normal stocked range and now I just buy as needed.



Milltek don’t have any on the shelf at the moment but are going to do a production run once there are enough orders! I can also source HKS – the Hi Power Silent is a good alternative – a little louder mind!"

That would be an FIPK, same as mine. Sounds awesome. Pity about the heat soak but I can live with it.
Seeing that really makes me want to paint the valve cover on mine. It's looking very tatty with the red peeling off.

Ahh cool yeah I really like the sound from the front, just want for more at the back now!

The red covers peeling is inevitable by the look of it. Most I looked at when hunting had it to some extent. Not sure if this one has been painted or is standard but I'm sure it won't look like this forever :)

A shame about the Miltek stock issue
 
Went and ordered the Sony headunit that you have @Rilot .

Ordered from CarAudioCentre. £159. Checked trust pilot afterwards and they sound awful :D selling products they don't have, terrible delivery times etc.. fingers crossed mines ok! It said "1 in stock" so that's definitely not happening..

Then ordered the incartech lead and patch cable direct from them, and I gather that's all I need then?

Will grab the Focal set soon too

* Scrap that, ordered those too, get it done. The OEM equipment is.. just awful

As expected, that site has now emailed saying they don't have stock of the headunit and say 4-6weeks. So I've asked to cancel. I bet they won't do that in a hurry

I haven’t experienced heat soak and it’s been on track in 28c lol.. I dunno where that heat soak idea came from but I’m pretty sure someone recently even posted that the temps are fine unless you’re sitting idle in ridiculous heat and in traffic. Same with Oem box.
 
I think it's the idle thing. If I'm stuck in traffic then I try to boot it, it bogs down due to the hot air. Once on the move it's fine.

Well, I ordered some crinkle red, high-temp spray paint and a new rocker cover gasket. I'm going to give my engine bay a spring clean.
